Sure we love Roy, Rudy and that giant, Greg Oden, but many Blazer fan’s favorite was the part-time power forward Channing Frye. Frye’s goofy grin and dedication to both the game and his city made him a much-loved player in fan circles; his up-close-and-personal blog let fans know he loved Portland just as much as they loved him. Now that the team let him go, we won’t be seeing him on the court. But there’s a chance he’ll show his face at a few of his favorite spots before he skips town. And if not, here’s where you should be paying tribute to Channing Frye. (Photo courtesy of Nike)

Frye frequented this pub so often the restaurant renamed their fries “Channing’s Fries.” There’s no word yet whether this popular hangover breakfast spot will keep this namesake dish on the menu but you can still visit to see why Frye made a fuss over its better-than-average pub food.

This quirky corner cafe is a frequent hangout for late night partiers and pancake lovers. Frye was one of the later. In fact, he chose this Northwest café as the site for a pancake eating contest he hosted back in March. The prize? Two tickets to an upcoming Blazers game. Pop in to see if he’s indulging in one last short stack before he signs on with another team.

Everyone knows Frye adored his dog Milton (the same pup that starred in that commercial with him). So, Alberta Street’s dog-friendly Tin Shed café is an obvious pick for the mutt-loving power forward. Not only did Frye write that the organic food was “freaking good as heck,” but he also hinted that Milton loved the chicken ‘n’ rice dish from the canine menu.

Thanks to two Spanish teammates, Frye became curious about this much-buzzed about tapas bar and restaurant. A lengthy blog entry proved he wasn’t disappointed with his decision to drop by. He called it a gigantic contender for some of the best food he’s ever eaten and gave it “five patatas with extra mole sauce, because it was legit.” Why not toast the guy with a pitcher of the bar’s punchy red sangria?

Fyre called this downtown restaurant a must-visit for Portland tourists, which is no surprise what with its charming outdoor patio and Old Portland architecture. Take his suggestion and visit on a Sunday for a brunch menu peppered with outstanding picks like Dungeness crab Benedict or Johnny cakes topped with a rhubarb compote, fresh raspberries and whipped crème fraiche.
