Tips for Who Song & Larry's Restaurant & Cantina

August 14, 2012

tried out Who Songs last night. Took my mom to have a nice dinner on the deck. Waiter was very nice. We placed our order and waited an hour to get our simple meal. When we got our meals we didn't have silverware, so we asked if they could get us some. We waited 10 minutes and absolutely noone brought us silverware. The cooks also completely screwed up our dinner order. So we walked out. Of course at that point they want to "help". I haven't been there in years and heard it was a good place to eat again. Couldn't be more wrong. Will NEVER return!

Waste of Time AND Money!. Haven't eaten there for a few years. What Happened??

I orfered a soft taco with shredded beef. The waiter asked if I wanted the rice and refried beans with it and I said ok. When I got the plate, it was a hard crisp taco and what looked like a small amount of rice and beans. After complaining (waiter said I ordered the hard shell; my husband said I didn't), he brought me a soft shell taco with shredded beef (about 4 small pieces of tough beef). The taco was not rolled up, ; same shape as the hard crisp taco. Was not good at all,. And the PRICE?? Don't waste your Time or Money.

Favorite Place for Mexican in Vancouver!. Firstly, not sure about the experiences described by the other reviews - we have been going to Who Song's for over a decade and never had a bad experience.

The food is excellent. Try the Chicken Flautas. They are served with jalapeno jelly and a smoky chipotle sauce and are out of this world. I always get the Mango Margarita, which is always blended to perfection.

Who Song's has a great happy hour menu as well. In the summer, it's the perfect spot to spend an afternoon on the deck. The wait is sometimes long, but well worth it. I have never had anything but friendly service from a waitstaff that has stayed pretty consistent over the years.

Poisoned!. Poisoned! Margaritas and mexican food sounded like a great plan for a beautiful Saturday. We choose Who songs because it is located on the columbia and we wanted to enjoy the sun deck. The food was horrible! The margarita tasted like sweet and sour mix with a hint of tequila. The bill came $58.00 for 4 shitty drinks and a flat plate of nachos, Im talking super skimpy not like the heaping mass of yummy goodness you get at lets say Matador. So I wake up at 4am with a raging headache followed by vomiting for several hours. My Sunday was ruined and I even missed work monday to recover. The place was filthy, I wised I had left when I noticed the soap dispenser broken in the womans bath room. Don't waste your time or money.

What Happened?. This used to be such a fun place. Our kid's loved it, the waiters would sing and it was a great place for a birthday party. I don't know what happened but the sevice is horrible, the restuarant is dirty/messy, the food is inconsistant. On busy nights it seems so chaotic, like no one is in charge. It's too bad because Whosongs used to be unique.

Nasty soup.. I make excellent tortilla soup and like to try Mexican restaurant's versions. I would not serve this to a 90 year old. Nothing about it was mexican. GROSS!!! When I asked why there was no tortillas in the "TORTILLA SOUP" the waitress said, "we don't have any" She says, "at least I put some cheese in it" hmmmm .....nice

Terrible Service. Lunch took us over an hour and a half. It was just me and my two kids. I had to go in and get our own napkins, silverware, and soda refils. My daugher finally got her cheese quesidilla almost an hour after we got there and after my son and I had finished the meal. No manager or anything ever came by. For the first time I LEFT NOT A PENNY for a tip.

The only thing that saved us on the kids having a melt down is all the birds they were feeding the chips to.....lol

Decent food, bad wait time. I've been to Who Song & Larry's many time haven grown up here in Vancouver. Sure, like any other restaurant you have wait times. Everyone has a limit to how long they will wait and if you have "reservations" you don't want to wait long, nor should you have to. During a Mother's Day brunch, my sister mother and I had reservations for 10AM. We arrived a little early and waited for over an hour. People coming in after us were getting sat first. We were livid. We ended up leaving. The food is ok. Certainly not the best in town but not the worst either. Their servers are terrible how ever. I think it would be a good place to get a drink on the weekend but as for making it a regular dining experience, I'll pass.

HORRIBLE FOOD & SERVICE, FILTHY AND NASTY. This used to be good! Haven't been in 4-5 years but what a disappointment! The place was filthy, including greasy crud all over the salt & pepper shakers. When I pointed this out to the "manager," he scraped off the crud on the salt shaker with HIS FINGERNAIL! EWWWWWWWW We waited to be seated for 15 minutes with no one in the restaurant except one other table. The bathroom smelled like a sewer with standing water on the floor. I ordered steak fajitas but what I got was raw, shredded beef as if I don't know the difference ??? !!!??? The beans were cold, the rice was hard and the meat wasn't steak or even cooked through. This plate cost $18. I am appalled. THIS PLACE HAS TO BE IN VIOLATION OF EVERY HEALTH CODE! When I asked to speak to a manager, I waited 20 minutes!! There wasn't anyone in the restaurant! NASTY. What happened to the quality and cleanliness of the place? HOW ARE THEY IN BUSINESS??? I hope the free market pushes these crooks out of business before someone catches a disease.
