Legends. Great place on some nights. Granted not so good for the 20ish but 30 to 40 and its a fun relaxed place where you can chill out and drink with friends. Lots of cute men ... not pretty boys or metro...
Don't waste your time if you want a good time..
So, a friend of mine and I decide to doll up and go to a bar we've never been to before - for our bi-weekly Friday adventures. Since we're not bar hopping sluts, this would be practically "all" of them in our town. We thought we'd try out this place called, "Club 99" and it would actually be club-like with people in their mid 20s, early 30s. This was definitely not the case. We walked in and I immediately noticed the atmosphere. It was a creepy feeling and I generally don't get like that, unless I'm really nervous of my surroundings. Men were in there 40s and 50s, maybe even older. The carpeting at the entrance was tore up and trashy, the old men were singing horrendous, lovey dovey show tunes. I thought to myself, maybe this was a gay bar and I didn't get that memo.
Cupcake was upset that there wasn't any eye-candy for her to indulge in, but that's okay - cause' she had me.
It was a rather dull 1 and a half hours for her and myself. I also really wanted to tell the blond ditsy waitress to give my money back for the weak-tastic drink she made me. Normally, when you have a long island iced tea, you can taste the alcohol and start to feel a slight buzz after a few sips. This tasted more like margarita mixer, ice and ass -- more than anything else and I didn't feel sh*t afterwords. I was simply appalled with this place. What a sh*tty, sh*tty hole in the wall it was. The only thing good there, was the dingbat waitress who was quick with service.
Not the good kind either.
My exp at legends/club 99. Maybe I was at a diffrent bar/club according to all the great reviews LMAO!! (laughs my a$$ off) but me and my girls go out 3 times a month and we try'd a diffrent side of town this time..hazle dell...and I could not belive the staff in that club..the bartenders are compleatly stuck up b*tches..its like they carry it with them while they work with the public. one of my friends orderd' a round of drinks (the 3rd round) and who ever made them needs to head back to bartending school. we order'd food from their too and it was awefull..over cooked/dry and had no flavor either...kinda over priced for sh*ty food...the regulars push you around b/c their the owners "favorites"....well the owner has bad taste in favorites lol. it was just a lame a$$ club...thats the last time I listin to someone who says 'go to legends'
A fun place to go. I have been a customer at Legends previously Club 99 for about 2 1/2 years now. I have to tell you I think the owner really has listened to the customers advise over the past few years and made some remarkable changes to the bar. I tend to see a mixed crowd in the bar from the groups of 20 somethings to the groups of 30's and 40's. I think with any neighborhood bar you will get the old cronies that sit at the bar and drink till 10 but only a few do I see at Legends. The pool tables are usually available and free during the day til about 4pm and on Sundays free till close. I have a lot of fun in the bar over the past few years and look forward to many more fun years at the club. Thank you Jim for making Vancouver's hot spot for all of us to enjoy! If you get the chance to see the competition you will see that there is no comparison I mean what do you have in the area The Icehouse now there is a dump owned by three alcoholics, oh wait if you are 21 female and hot you can sleep with one of them trust me he will let you, the other two owners need to be out of the bar business and sad they ever got in to the business. Or hey go down the other way and go to the Hideaway and you can meet everyone that lives in the community that are missing all or half their teeth, and you want to see ugly fat people sliding on a pole.
Fun ! Fun ! Fun. Try their Jack Wings. They are the bomb. All their food is good and wait staff has improved to stellar service. I have read the other reviews and sure sometimes things can go wrong in ANY bar. If you were a regular customer you would see the whole picture. Jim and his staff do a great job. Try their pizza, steaks and the rest of the menu. I want a bottle of their Jack Daniels sauce and as soon as they bottle it I will be their first customer for it! I saw a reference to the icehouse (in the reviews) and I wont go their because of the customers (they get a lot of them from the Value motel behind the bar) which is a druggie hotel. I feel safe at Legends and know that Frank (one of the Ice House owners) wont be trying to take me home like all the other girls I know. He is sleezy! No one on Legends staff works me and if anything they have protected me from predators like Frank from the Ice House!
Really Bad Food. Someone I Know Told Me They Went Into Legends (club 1-99) and Had Their "Speciality", Philly Steak Sandwich. This Person Told Me It Was The Worst Sandwich He Has Ever Had, In A Bar or Restaurant, It Tasted Sour. So He Told The Bartender and the Cook and They both had Nothing To Say. This Person Said They Will Never Go There Again.
Jim, the owner, is extremely cheap, doesn't care about what his patrons think. And no more live music!.
Ok, so I've been into Club 199 (now called Legends) several times... I go in and order a burger and fries... not hard, a 15 year old at McDonalds can cook this, right? WRONG! Waitress brings me a basket of fries, no napkin, no condiments, nothing! So I start snacking, guessing my burger is on the way... no sight of the waitress for some time. I finish my fries, and 25 minutes later, she brings me my burger. Still, no condiments, nothing! Worst burger I have even had! I approached Jim, the owner, and he basically shrugged me off. No offer to compensate me for my terrible food, not even the offer to buy a beer or anything! Pathetic.
There is no longer live music there and your 40 something drunks can't sing to save their lives... Place has gone down hill in a hurry. Jim is cheap and it reflects in his business. He had a new waitress everytime we went there! Don't waste your time here, there's better bars close by, and they still have live music!
Great Hang Out.
I disagree with both of the other reviews. I am young, live in the area, and love to go here. My only complaint would be that it is not busy enough! It does not look very promising from the outside (I think that is why it is not very busy), however, it is great on the inside. I was there recently and found that there were more young people than before (hopefully, the age group is shifting to a younger crowd). Also, every time I go in I?ve received great service, the food was delicious, and the drinks I?ve had were all very strong?especially compared to Portland bars that use smaller pour-spouts on their liquor!!
I go here with all my friends!!
good food, weak drinks and unhealthy. I used to work here and they do have great food, well i dont know now that all the cooks that i knew left, but the management is horrible, jim(the owner) used to only hire good looking girls, not based on skill. and the atmosphere is lame if you are under 35ish, but thier drinks arent very strong unless you have been going in there for years!! i would refer you to go to the icehouse if you need to stay in that area, if you are younger, go to studio 704 downtown or club zoo, or my favorites, oscars or out-a-bounds both off mill plain!!
felt way young. i went there with my friend and we are in our mid-twenties and we felt so out of place. if you're in your mid to late thirties and older then this place is for you, but if you want a younger crowd then i don't recommend this place. the wait staff was slow and we had to wait 20 minutes just to cash out so we could leave.
