I hope the owner reads this. They have
just lost all of my business and I will no longer be recommending this establishment to any one. I would say I averaged 2-3k a year before their last set of policies changed. If you want to play pool you must buy something instantly. This resulted in my girlfriend and I ending up with a beer that was disgusting. Mentioned this to both our waiter and the manager, we were told to basically f-off. No offer to switch it to one that we may like better just sorry you are out of luck.
If you want poor service and to support a business who's owner doesn't give a crap about their customers then this is the place for you.
This is a Tavern that wants to be and elegant restaurant. Prime rib price keeps going up and up. You get a huge salad, baked potatoe, bread, veggies and an Ok prime rib. Not the best I have had, but ok. White table cloth and candles...but it is still a Tavern. I myself refuse to pay $20 for the petite cut...If I'm going to pay that much I want to be in an elegant setting to match. Black Angus for me or the Ringside in Portland. The Elks in Vancouver had better prime rib and a lot less $$.
This place really used to be a dive, and my guess a few people really miss that environment. This is my husband and I's favorite place in Vancouver. The absolute best steaks and seafood. The best in Vancouver and reasonably priced. If you read that Stuart Andersons and Bills Chicken Inn were the best steaks in town, they are wrong! We enjoy the friendly bald guy and all the staff. But of course, we are never loud or obnoxious. Yes this definitely shows what you can do with a sow's ear and we love it!
Halftime is half empty!. Been here many times in the past. It used to be a nice bar. What the hell happened? When we showed up for dinner, some bald guy, (pretending to be a host), chose my seat for me. Then I sat down to a candle lit, white table-cloth setting. If ever the cliche "lipstick on a pig" apllied, it would be for this place! If you want to be a "fine dining" establishment, then do it right and re-model the whole place,(not just the bathrooms) At 10:30pm I witnessed them pull drinks from another table of 4 nicely dressed couples, telling them it was last call! I too have never enjoyed seeing the "owner" micro-managing the place, sitting on her throne at the end of ther bar! Its makes it very uncomforable as a customer and makes me feel sorry for the staff! Now the prices are outrageous, the service comes with an attitude, and the drinks are crappy and not worth the money! I hate to throw any place under the bus, but I have to be honest, this place isn't what it used to be!
I like being yelled at by management where I dine. Don't you.
I walked in to the Halftime and found it clean, inviting, and with friendly wait staff. I was part of a work group get-together of 15+ of us. We were enjoying the food, drinks and pool until the "owner" told us to be quiet! She then GLARED at us, and practically chased us out of the restaurant after our group spent over $500 there!!! WTF!!!
We weren't being obnoxious, just enjoying ourselves! This IS NOT a 5 star restaurant, it is a BAR with POOL TABLES and SEVERAL TV's! While paying our bill with a NICE waitress I listened to the owner severely scold a waitress IN THE DINING AREA! The waitress was reprimanded for being friendly (you aren't here to make friends, this is a job not a place to have fun) <------ Owner herself sums this place rather PERFECTLY. Funny really - until the owner opened her rude mouth we didn't mind the over priced food!
Pleasant experience.. We had been in a traffic jam from Portland for much too long on a hot day. Was a very pleasant surprise to see the inside compared to the outside. Nice cool dim seating with oil lights at each table. And a tv right at our table almost. The waitresses were very friendly and food and drinks served promptly and quality says. . .We'll be back. . I think the prime rib next time per Sanzimar's review will be our choice. . . We had the fish and a pulled pork sandwich and very very happy.
Excellent food and low prices. Halftime has the best prime rib I have ever had. Their prices are extremely reasonable; their menu is extensive; and the atmosphere and food are great. This restaurant/pub is clean (I'm a stickler for clean) and the waitstaff are pleasant and prompt. I was totally impressed with this place. We will definitely go back and recommend it to others.
Good times, great food. I dont know any of the waitresses, bartenders, owners, etc., so I cannot vouch for any of the highly personal comments below. I have been going there for a couple of years, and I love the food, I like the staff, and the pool tables are plentiful and in good shape. (except on the weekends, then you gotta get in early to get a pool table!) Cannott ask for much else in a neighborhood pub! If you are curious enough to read all of the reviews, I suggest you go into the bar yourself, order the Prime Rib (or a burger, or the Chicken Club!!) and judge the atmosphere for yourself---you will not be disappointed!! We love the food and go every Sunday night for the Prime Rib (Fri/Sat too crowded for dinner, but not drinks!) Not sure what goes on with waitresses, owners, bartenders, etc., but we always get good friendly service and GREAT food!!
This Place is More Uncomfortable Than Jail. This place used to be pretty good and had good food. Now, the owner just sits at the end of the bar yelling at everyone. SERIOUSLY, yelling at everyone. I've seen her throw a patron out for not leaving enough on a tip. SHE IS CRAZY! The waitresses are hookers in disguise and the guy behind the bar is a world class Ahole. He acts like he's doing you a favor by getting your drink when HE is ready. Oh, and the place stinks like sewer.
Great place for pool if..... Good place to go to shoot pool if your a tweeker or you want to buy.... The owner is well aware of the d--g traffic that frequents her establishment. She has convics sleeping in the booths late at night and I know this because I used to work there. Also there is a guy working there that tried to off his wife and kids a couple years ago named Mitch.
