45.622037 -122.556623I finally found a good Japanese restaurant to eat at in Vancouver, which unlike others, is authentic Japanese food. The price and quality is 100% fare. The location was a bit hard to find, so I had to use my GPS device on my phone. The restaurant is small and has a home feel to it.. If you are interested in real Japanese food, I would highly recommend this place.
Sushi as a Craft. Michael spends a lot of time on each order of sushi, maybe a little too much time and that's the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. The quality and presentation of his sushi is 1st rate - best sushi I've had in the greater portland area. His enthusiasm for the product he produces shines through with the end result. He's a Japanese master of several food arts. It's well worth the wait. *Be prepared to talk about Star Wars if business is slow. He might even show you his authentic light saber movie props!
Fantastic Service & Outstanding Food. Mike and his wife Kieko are amazing. Always willing to chat and very informative of of his craft. The food is always served fresh and with smiles. We visit here at least once a month. Can't say enough good about the food and its very plentiful servings. Try the Dragonfly- Amazing!
New Owners = GREAT SUSHI/FOOD!!!!.
My husband & I just moved to the Vancouver area & we chose the right place! We are always trying to find new sushi restaurants (we both lived in Tokyo combined 12 yrs) that lives up to our standards of what we had in Japan. Well, HERE IT IS!! Katsura is clean & well maintained (current owners have been there 1 yr) w/about 15 tables and a sushi bar. Prices range from $7-$15 depending on the meal. We had Katsudon (pork cutlet on rice) with a Katsura roll (avacado/baked salmon/cucumber/mayo sauce). It was served also w/ miso soup w/tofu & green onions & a side salad w/ fresh greens (not iceberg!!), slivered cucmber/carrot and onions w/ginger dressing. Presentation & taste was excellent! Michael (the owner) & his wife Keiko were very friendly & took care of us like we were family. Michael's sushi & chef skills are A+! We will be going back again & again! Don't take our word for it, go & try it!
Kore wa oishii desu (This is delicious)!!!
Nice for a sushi bar in the 'couv. I've eaten here a few times, I enjoy it quite a bit. Sushi is served on traditional geta, albeit with fake wasabi and red-dyed gari. Salad dressing is a bit strong flavored, miso is not great. Sashimi is wonderful. The chef makes the best mackeral I've ever had. Mackeral is usually a bit fishy flavored, but his was marinated to pefection. Friendly chef, ask him some questions. This is a real sushi bar with a real Japanese chef unlike everywhere else in Vancouver. The large sashimi plate is wonderful, best variety I've had. The terriyaki wasn't anything to write home for, however.
Awesome, Fresh Sushi. Yoshi's Sushi is amazing. It is always fresh, with a clean, pure taste. We often purchase the regular sushi and add one of the specialty rolls to split. We can't recommend this restaurant enough. In addition to terrific sushi, the tempura, udon and tempura, and teriyaki is very good.
Awful sushi!. My family had terrible dinner. We ordered Super Delux sushi, but the fish was not fresh at all! The quality of food was very very low. Only dish we could eat was Edamame.
