Laurelhurst Theater and Pub

Another comfortable and inexpensive movie house in Portland that serves microwbrews, wine and pizza! Clean, friendly and highly recommended.

One of the most intensely meat-centric new restaurants on the East Coast, the formula here is multiple sources, straight up cooking, and aggressive, smart seasoning. I love it.

Laurelhurst remains a Portland institution for its marriage of cult movie classics and craft beer. Sip pints of Burnside Oatmeal Pale while watching Kevin Bacon run from tremors on the big screen. Make sure to arrive earlier than you would at other theaters: the concessions/bar line can get quite long.

They already had me at $4 general admission and $3 matinees, but then I saw the menu at this popular Burnside “theater and pub.” Fresh pizza, salads and wraps by their NE Portland sister restaurant, pitchers of beer, $6 pint ‘n popcorn special…yes, please!

Great second-run theater that often shows vintage films and free screenings of political events (like debates and elections). Beer and wine available.

Great, cheap theater pub.. The Laurelhurst Theater and Pub plays all the same films you'll find throughout other discount movie houses in Portland, but the beer selection is better and cheaper than the overhyped "McM's littered throughout the city. The staff is super friendly (mainly the male servers, the girls need to work on their skills a bit), the food is great and cheap. I would suggest showing early, the films tend to sell out quite often. THIS PLACE ROCKS!!!

greasy food beer good. Other than it smelled a little moldy in there I had a great time last night with a bunch of my friends. Staff was unfriendly though. But I love a place you can drink and watch a movie. Better than home because I don't have to clean up the mess. Prices were a bit high, but cheaper than a big commercial theatre. I had one of my dogs in a bag with me and they never said a word.

The best theater EVER (he says, snapping gum and using valley girl accent).. Oh, the Laurelhurst. My absolute favorite theater. The beer on tap, available by the glass or pitcher, and rotating per seasonals, are worth the three dollar admission. Add to that affordable wines by the bottle (er, carafe), and pizza, and we've started off on the right foot. We try to make it a weekly visit. The staff (with a one-time exception) are super-nice, and did I mention they show movies? In addition to showing your hits and misses after they leave the multiplex, Laurelhurst wants you to remember some past faves with a weekly featured flick. They used to serve Pizzicato pizza, but recently moved to serving their own pie made at their side-project cafe. Honestly, I liked Pizzicato's pizza better, but if they can shape up their new crusts, they might be on to something; I'm holding hope that they are still in trial and error mode over there. This is a highly recommended establishment--they do it right. As I've often said, I'll see just about anything if it's playing at the Laurelhurst.

too good. The Laurelhurst Theater will spoil you. After going here a few times, you will not want to spend tons of money at a big first-run theater.

At Laurelhurst, you don't have to sit through tons of ads, still or moving. They just have a nice slideshow of interesting photographs if anything.

It's only a few dollars to get in.

The pizza is awesome, and you can drink great beer and some pretty good wines. And the prices on food are like they should be, not like nine dollars for a soda and popcorn.

You don't need to empty your wallet to see a movie anymore!. We went here for the 1st time a week ago and it was our answer to seeing movies w/o spending a fortune! All movies are $3 and then you can get pizza, popcorn , soda/water or beer - it's great! Not a lot of movie selections but there should be one worth seeing at any one time. About every other row has a table so if you need one, send someone to go save seats and leave another to go buy food. The parking lot next to it is tiny so go early to find parking. The seats were pretty comfortable - high backs, and good leg room in the table rows. Not the large screens like the large movie chains, but I can't complain with the prices and food options! We'll definitely be back.

The Best Theater!. I never write reviews but I have to say how much I love this theater. I have been coming here for years and have always had great service. Great movie choices. The pizza is so good and I love having a beer and watching a movie with my friends. I always bring out of towners here for a good time and it represents Portland's unique style.

My favorite theater. At $3 it's the only theater I can afford to go to! They have beer and pizzicato pizza and usually five or six movies to choose from.

Bogie and Bacall meet Fred and Ethel Mertz at this beautifully renovated theater-pub.. In Short
The Laurelhurst Theatre originally opened its doors in 1923, and it has seen many incarnations since. With luck, this latest one will have staying power. Recently renovated, the theater features four screens showing a combination of second-run films and lesser-seen art flicks. With all-new seating and tables installed between seats, locals will hardly be able to detect signs of the grungy theater of days gone by.
