I don't know if it's all the glass and lights, or the buzzy downtown location, but going to a show at this popular performing arts center always feels like something special. Afterwards, walk to Higgins or Raven & Rose for a bite, have a drink in the Heathman's elegant lounge, or, if you are being dragged to the show against your will and need a pickmeup beforehand, get a drinking chocolate at the little Cacao annex at SW Broadway & Salmon.
~ Under Medicated Staff ~. A nice theater but while attending a performance by Oregon Children's Theater, an elderly usher went off on a lady for silently texting a message 20 minutes before the performance began. Screaming at the top of his lungs while completely scaring the young children. Clearly the Newmark hasn't done their homework regarding background checks. Probably a great place for adult performances but I would think twice before allowing children witness the display of unstable employees.
Portland's only Edwardian-style theater..
In Short
