A gracious throwback from the heyday of department stores.. Good, Solid Fare
The menu offers straightforward dishes, and there's a high-profile salad bar with offerings that border on nostalgia: fluffy iceberg lettuce, creamed peas, cottage cheese and a dank, rather downcast-looking macaroni salad. Entrees are motherly and imperturbably sedate: turkey club sandwich, French dip, patty melt, fried liver. Possibly the most exotic item in the lineup is the taco salad.

Senior Hideaway
Tucked away on the 10th floor of the downtown Meier & Frank, the grand Georgian Room is a cross between a last-generation country club and a retirement-home dining hall.

That Special Feeling
The serving staff is genial and solicitous, and will make gran feel special. There's also a baby grand tucked in the corner, tinkling out classics like "Someone to Watch Over Me"--which is just how the Georgian Room makes you feel.
