Great store - so what's up with the deli?. Uwajimaya as a store really is an amazing place. The selection is second to none, and there's the sushi retaurant Hakatamon (much, much better than the previous place Sambi, thank goodness) and the Japanese bookstore. I work near Uwajimaya and walk over often.

So what's up with the deli? They slop out possibly the worst Asian steam-tray dishes I have ever seen. I have made several attempts and I'm giving up. Everything's cooked into a beige mush, floating in oil. The chow mien I just got was greasy beyond belief. In an attempt to get something that was once alive I ordered the vegetables. Even they were a lost cause - they appeared to have been cooked at least a day before: the broccoli was literally shriveled and discolored.

I can strongly recommend Uwajimaya as a store for all things Asian (and Pacific Island) but for the love of all that's tasty they need to scrap the deli and start over. Even Safeway can do better!…

GREAT PLACE FOR ASIAN FOOD!. This store carries most of the Asian foods for Koreans, Chinese, and Japanese people. The produce and seafood is high quality and the rest of the products are good also. The prices are a bit spendy, but it's definitely worth it for higher quality products. The lines go very quickly and the workers are very helpful.…
