The pool is located in the area around Barton Springs in Zilker Park, the expansive green space in the heart of the city. Out of the water, there's plenty of room for children to roam. After a refreshing dip, sunbathers and picnickers stretch out on the long, grassy hill, big enough for a large number of bronzed locals. Lifeguards keep watch during the summer, and a playground and concession stand are outside the fence.

ParkingTurn south into the Zilker parking lot and follow signs to the pool area. The parking lot accommodates about 100 vehicles.

It is a nice place, but i personally thought it was dirty and very stinky. Its very crowded on weekends. Not what i was expecting. maybe it was the day i went on (sunday afternoon)?
Pros: nice shady trees to lay out on
Cons: stinky and dirty when theres a lot of people at the pool

Most of the water areas in Austin are quite warm in the summer due to the weather heating up the water. But Barton Springs is one place you can rely on being refreshed and able to hop in water that will actually cool you off. Great for kids, families of all kinds. I know someone that swears by the healing powers of the water here as well. Large enough area that even during busy days its not overcrowded. A great day outing.
Pros: One of the only places with cool waters
Cons: Parking is not so great
