This tidied-up Belmont neighborhood dive has retained its loyal regulars..
In Short
Long ago, a neon tavern sign with two burned-out letters gave Hanigan's its universally acknowledged nickname, "The Vern." A facelift left this watering hole looking brighter and a little like a college rec room. But there's still duct-taped carpet, young rock and rollers, crusty old-timers and a loud jukebox drowning out the TVs. Twenty-two taps dispense a wide selection of microbrews, although Pabst is always popular. Entertainment options include two pool tables, foosball, pinball and video poker.

Local Hangout With Regulars.
Hanigan's, also known as the VERN since the T & A in the Tavern light burned out and folks said don't replace those bulbs, has changed in decor over the years but it still retains its local charm. Shoot pool. Talk with regulars who walk or ride the bus there. Or meet people who are hanging out having drinks while making plans where to eat a late night dinner. Low key spot could become the next trendy place if the regulars will let it happen.

my livingroom.
this place is a great hangout for a low-key evening of beer and pool. not a hipster scene, but that's what makes it great.

We love Tom..
If you thought customers could get a little out of hand, come on into the Vern and check out who they've got working behind the bar. Be ready to have your white-bread, middleclass values challenged while enjoying inexpensive local brews in a ramshackel, rundown atmosphere. Great spot to visit while waiting for your laundry to dry across the street. p.s. We miss you Lisa. And you too Beckel.
