Gone! Burned to the Ground!
by jdixon3 at Citysearch
This is very sad, but this restaurant burned to the ground in July 2006 and I haven't heard that it will be reopening any time soon.
Such a sad loss of a good place to eat in an area where there are very little other restaurants.
Best garden and grounds at a family restaurant

After reading the reviews posted about this restaurant I was a bit hesitant in trying it out. What amazes me is that no one mentions the beautiful garden and grounds... for that alone is worth the visit. It is a shame that the service and food are not as exciting- although not bad. The menu really needs some more healthy options!! I understand the complaint about pricing- but I did notice that all their produce and meats are organic and grain fed ect. which I will gladly pay extra for. For all those that are looking for cheap meals perhaps applebees is what they really want. The staff needs some polishing as they seem a little lax, but not unfriendly- The kitchen needs to rethink their menu selection and consistantcy. Some items where great (new mexico nachos) and others were in need of some spice and finesse (fried chicken lacked flavor and over cooked slightly) I'll continue going for the great ambiance and hope they improve the rest.
- Pros: garden and grounds- flowers everywhere!!
- Cons: healthy menu options needed and consistency in food
Yuck! Yuck! Yuck!!!

This was our first and LAST trip to the Grill. Lets start with the hair in my burger, now this wasn't a hair that had fallen onto my burger it was molded into the patty itself... YUCK. Then there was the nonexistant service, when the waiter finally did come back to the table to take the half eaten burger all he said to me when I told him about the hair was "thank you very much", guess they don't train their staff to listen to their customers. The 3rd and final straw was the fact that when we were paying, NOBODY asked how everything was or even Thanked us for coming in. Now my husband is a chef downtown and I have worked in the business for several years. This sort of treatment is just plain unacceptable. I recommed that if you do go to the Sweet Oregon Grill be sure that you go when they are busy, because if you are one of the few tables that they have... you food will be cold, overpriced and hairy.
- Pros: There weren't any
- Cons: Hair in the food... what more can I say?
