Editorial Review for Ole Ole – by Otis Rubottom
In Short
Simple, minimal decor, high ceilings and lots of light welcome a bustling business lunch crowd and couples and families for dinner. The menu features many taqueria favorites. Warm corn-tortilla tacos are filled with grilled steak, chicken, pastor and lengua (tongue). Hearty platters come with your choice of meat served alongside rice, beans, salsa, guacamole and tortillas. The signature "My Mom's Tinga," a variation on the Mexican sandwich, overflows with shredded chicken and onions in chipotle sauce.

Not even Christ on the cross suffered as much as I did eating at the Tigard location of Ole Ole. I should have known when I walked into a deserted restaurant during lunch hour, but I had already driven out there so I went ahead and ate anyway. BIG MISTAKE!! :( : ( :( My food was prepared quickly and piping hot. However, the sign outside promised "Fresh Mexican Food" and what I got was anything but fresh, nor was it particularly Mexican. The overwhelming flavor of my Al Pastor burrito was mushy pork fat, with the occasional hint of pico de gallo salsa and guacamole. The cook had obviously never eaten a burrito before, because each of the ingredients was segregated into its own section of the burrito and rarely blended together. The meat (pork marinated in a red chile sauce) was vibrantly orange and a closer examination revealed it to be fat, rather than meat. The refried beans were gray and watery and the rice almost non existent. I have never been less satisfied. From this point on, I will refer to events in my life as B.O.O (Before Ole Ole) and A.D. (After Death), because I have spent the hour since my meal wishing that I had died rather than subject my mind, body and taste buds to that miserable excuse for a quality dining establishment. YUCKKKKKKKKKYYYYYYYYYY
Pros: Silly name
Cons: Made me contemplate death as an escape from my burrito

My best friend recently told me about this place that he and his wife go to about 4 times a week. I tried it and was amazed at how good the food was. Taste is the most important factor for me, but as a side benefit the portions are freaking huge, and it's so affordable. This is my favorite place now, and the drivethru makes getting your food in about 1 minute. Everyone should try this place if they enjoy restaurant style mexican food. As a bonus their drivethru is open late. Check it out!
Pros: Huge portions, very affordable, drive thru, open late
Cons: none
