Nice place to stay.
I stayed here on a weekend trip and really enjoyed my time! The view of the river is beautiful and the walking path was so nice! (also the view from the restaurant there is amazing! good food too)
The valet parking was fine and the guys there were very nice but the fact that overnight parking was $20 is pretty ridiculous. It is like they are saying "welcome...now give us all your money" i don't mind spending money when it matters, but the parking is not covered and there is no reason for the high price!!!!!!
It ended up raining so i found my way to the spa and it was amazing! The staff was so nice and helpful! The amenities in the locker room were VERY nice and the atmosphere was peaceful and what i needed. My massage was exactly what I needed and Darci was extremely skilled and gave a wonderful massage. I highly suggest visiting this spa and Darci.
Overall I enjoyed my stay and my time in Portland!…
Great for Wedding.
My husband and I recently got married and held our reception at Aquariva (see additional review). The Avalon is literally 10 feet away so it was the obvious choice for our wedding night and the
night before.
We loved everything! The first night I stayed in a junior suite with my sister-in-law. The room was huge with a deck and fireplace and since we booked in advance for 2 nights we got 20% off making it only $167.
On our wedding night my husband and I stayed in the Riverside Suite. Amazing! It's basically an apartment with a efficiency kitchen, separate bathroom and bedroom. The separate bathroom came in handy since we invited our families to our room the next day for brunch.
I had 2 hairstylists back out on me so I reached out to the event planner at the Avalon (Leslie who is fantastic) just to see if they had a hair stylist in the salon. Lucky me, they had just added Joanne to the team.
Joanne was amazing!! The night of our rehearsal dinner she did a hair consultation and test run. We discussed what I wanted on the wedding day but she switched it up and gave me an updo for that night so it would be a surprise for everyone. She also did my makeup at no charge and it looked great! Once Joanne was finished me she asked my mom if she could play with her hair. She ended up giving my mom a complete makeover at no charge! She looked amazing!
The day of my wedding, Joanne took her time making sure my hair was done right and even came up to my room once I was dressed to help me place my veil. I will definitely have Joanne do my hair for events in the future. The trial run was $65 and the actual day of was $65, well worth it to not run around the city.
The Avalon is off the beaten path but well worth it. I highly recommend riverside rooms.…
TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. If I could rate this 0 starts, I would. My husband bought me a $400 gift card to the spa. The spa changed ownership/management in December, and now they will not honor the gift card, and we are $400 out! Basically the GM's attitude is, "Not My Problem". Unbelievable way to run a business.…
Avalon Sucks. Avalon Hotel's Spa Chakra of Portland went in to bankruptcy only for the Portland location. We received gift certificates for Christmas and when we wanted to book our spa appointment we were told of the bankruptcy, they would not be honored and that we had two choices: travel to San Fransisco, Los Angeles or New York to redeem them, or sell them on Craigslist at a reduced price to someone living in the above locations. We are hoping that the credit card company will reverse the charges so that the giver of the certificates can get her money back. Shame on you, Avalon, for not just "saying yes" and compensating us.…
awesome spa, ok hotel.
The spa was amazing. They were offering awesome deals and were able to get us appoinments first thing the next morning. Everyone in the spa was so helpful! I got a facial and massage, both great.
The hotel was ok. Very nicely decorated, but rooms were not as nice. TV was 10+ years old and the remote hardly worked. When we called to get the TV fixed after the screen kept going blank, we were told it was not an option because it was a ComCast issue, when we asked to be moved rooms we were told there were no rooms avaliable for our room type. We asked for an upgrade and were denied. TV was eventually fixed though.
Parking was expensive at 19/night for over night parking. Valet staff were very friendly.
Would probably not return to hotel next time I was in Portland, but would definitely return to the SPA...…
