Tips for Appliance World

January 11, 2013

Called, waited for 4 hours, called and showed up an hour after the 4 hour window, turned on dishwasher said it was fine, they usually run 2-3 hours (NOT) threw some different dishwasher soap samples on the counter and said if that didn't improve it then call for a second appt. Oh and said I needed to run my hotwater for a while before I started my dishwasher which is something you did in the 50's, 60's and 70's. Wasted my $65, called another repair service. Don't waste your time or your money, this is a one man operation so there is no other repair person who could actually do it right.

This company was sent by the home warranty company we had to repair a dishwasher for leaking, possible non-working upper spray arm, and possible faulty timer. My son was there when he came and said he glanced at the timer and said it was fine (xray vision perhaps?), said the spray arm was fine and we were loading the dishwasher wrong, and it was dripping because we were using too much rinse aid. Called the warranty company and complained they said I could have it looked at again at no charge. Called Appliance World and asked for a different technician, they said they'd call me back. The repairman himself called back and after confirming everything my son had told me he agreed to come back. He came back on Nov 27th and again insisted we were using too much rinse aid and/or detergent. He called me to tell me this and even after I told him that has never happened to me in all the years of owning a dishwasher he still insisted it was our fault. My son looked at it later that night and found a crack in the rinse aid dispenser, spent $10 for sealant and it no longer leaks. As for the spray arm and timer, we'll be buying a new dishwasher soon. I will NEVER use this company again.

The Bumbleino brothers of appliance repair. On 17 Jan we reported two appliances that needed repair to our warranty company. They dispatched an Appliance World technician on 20 Jan. At first he refused to look at the second appliance insisting (in a barely understandable heavy foreign accent) that he only had authorization for one appliance and wanted me to call in a second work order before he would do the work. After I called and he was told that he did indeed have to look at both units, he then told me he did not have the required part and it would have to be ordered. It would take 7 to 10 days for the part to come in. I paid him and he left.

One week later, I get a call from Appliance World and they said that their technician must have got the model number wrong because they could not order the part and would have to send him back out to recheck the model number. They set an appointment for Jan 30. On Jan 30 they called to tell me that something had come up and they needed to reschedule the technician for Feb 1. I finally called our warranty company to complain and they asked me to give them the model number which I did. They, in turn, called Applaince World and gave them the number. I just got a call from Appliance World and they said that they now had the correct model number and they could order the part....but it would be a week to 10 days before they would get it.

The appliance is still not fixed. Stay tuned, I suspect this story is not over!
