Editorial Review for Bella Faccia Pizzeria – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
The hand-painted Bella Faccia sign tips off the eclectic clientele that this place is dedicated to art. The vivid red walls, indie music and peaceful patio make this one of the hottest places on Alberta Street. There's only one size of pie: huge. All pizzas are 18 inches, enough to stuff four adults. If customers aren't that hungry, they can try one of the daily slices. There's also salads, cookies and beer.

The Extras

Sauces include tomato, garlicky olive oil, artichoke and an herb-y pesto, all with great balance and no greasiness.

I'm a west coastie who didn't grow up on NY style, and I have to say in general I prefer a sturdier, heartier pizza. But Bella Faccia has me won over. Even if it wasn't in my neighborhood I'd go out of the way for it. There's a Hot Lips closer that will deliver (Bella Faccia doesn't), but even that won't make me change allegiances. The sauce is flavorful--it actually tastes like tomato and not generic "sauce". We always get takeout because the place itself is very small. The staff there won't coddle you, but I don't consider that bad service. To me, poor service means you don't get what you asked for or it takes an unreasonably long time to get it. Their job is to get you your food, that's it, and here they do it well. Maybe they won't read the signs for you if you won't read 'em for yourself, and yes, they enforce a strict no-cell-phone policy at the counter and WILL walk away if you ignore it. I say, good for them! Great pizza, fast service, and I don't want anything else from a neighborhood pizza place.

Pros: Great food, competent service

Cons: Tiny

Wow, anyone who does not like this pizza must prefer Cavone pizza like Dominoes, or they think that escape from NY is really good because of their one cup of oil to every slice ratio. I am from the New York area, and I lived in NYC for 4 years, and I have to say... get the cheese pizza, it is where it is at! If you can't take the service then think about all the clowns who ride bikes without helmets, or car drivers who are allergic to using turn signals in this town. When you are in the Alberta Arts district, forget Tin Shed (they are the sanctimonious white bread restaurant!) go for the Bella baby!!!!!

Pros: Food

Cons: Service
