A reliable Pearl District favorite, this cheerful cafe is a good bet for a quick coffee and homemade pastry, or a sit down lunch/dinner. Salads are fresh and sizeable, I usually get the tarragon chicken.

Daily specials are written on butcher paper & hung at the counter. Place your order and look for a seat. The scramble with leeks, chard, mushrooms & pecorino was fabulous! Pastries, cookies, cake finish off your meal or grab one for a mid- day pick me up. Service was timely & friendly.
Great.
I love the Daily Cafe. I wish I lived closer so I could go more often. Recently I had the two specials for lunch: a sandwich of roasted vegetables, hummus and lettuce, and the cauliflower soup. The portion size was perfect, and the service was lightning-quick--I had barely found a table before they were calling my name. The sandwich was a little on the plain side, but the soup was piping hot and surpringly light for what I assume was a cream base.
I have also been for the prix fixe brunch menu, and it is Fab-u-lous. They have interesting, seasonal choices, and the breakfast sandwich I had with egg, bacon and some kind of delicious sauce was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had.
Service is great, food is great. Daily Cafe is the best.
short change. As I work next-door, I eat at the Daily Cafe often. Not anymore. Today was the second time I was short-changed. Their prices have gone up and quality has gone down. A chicken ceasar salad is $8.50 and the dressing tastes like straight-up mayo.
Stop using plastic cups!.
And why Greek Salad in the winter?
The Daily Cafe is a Food Alliance Member and can be found in the Chinook Book. They should use seasonal, local produce and stop serving "for here" drinks in wasteful plastic cups. Do this and I'd give them a 10 - the food is good.
Gone but not forgotten. A lunch at the"Daily Cafe" is part of our weekend routine. We love the porchetta panini and the choice of either a wonderful potato salad with whole grain mustard, or a Greek salad. Sadly, at our latest visit, another one of our favorites has left the menu. The first loss was the awesome Chocolate Decadent cookies (which were to die for,) that disappeared from the cookie plate a year ago. Now the potato salad has exited stage left. We're disappointed to see these two items leave the menu. They were true stand outs from other lunch menus around town. I just hope the Porchetta Paninis with the sweet pepper relish are here to stay.
Break-fast!. I am trying to not eat so many sweets in the morning. And am in love with the breakfast Panini! It's one of my new addictions! I can even call ahead and order it. When I get there it's ready for me and I can order coffee and start my day! Thanks for being my daily cafe!
Breakfast delight. I have had lunch here before, but not the breakfast. The coffee is a good wakeup and I particularly liked the breakfast panini. The self-service line is a little difficult with patrons going in both directions, but the order takers are cheerful and the food comes promptly. I will definitely go back next time I am in town. Maybe have dinner.
Change is Good and I've Been There Recently.... ...for a bite to eat and whether it was a burger with pinot noir or soft shell crabs I really like what's happening. Like the neighborhood the place is hopping during the day so be prepared for the experience. Daily Cafe in the Pearl feels new and reinvented. The menu tells me so and the room is full of urban professionals and cool Portlanders who like it too. Today the mushroom soup with barley and spinach was simply dynamite, had a caesar with big shavings of cheese. Still, I'm a sad puppy because my favorite person was off. I'll simply have to go again.
innovative menu, friendly staff, lots of seating.
We had lunch with 3 kids. It was easy to get in, order, get seats, and enjoy our meal.
The kids loved the grilled cheese and chips. My salad was good. Tomato soup was good too.
Good value for brunch.
For $12.50 you get a basket of pastries, starter and main entree. The pastries were good; in fact, I enjoyed them more than the main entree (the smoked salmon muffin was not as good as I expected).
Pearl District is a very nice, modern neighborhood. Will come back again to try the panini, which is not available on Sundays.
Try a panini - any one of them. I'm glad I don't live in the Pearl... I'd spend all my time (and cash) at this fabulous cafe. They have a good selection of natural and organic eggs and meat, super yummy specials, and great lattes. The Daily Cafe definitely has the school cafeteria vibe, but it's hip and gives a great boost to the morning. Employees often have that you're-in-my-way look on their faces and, in their defense, they are usually quite busy. I've come to think it's charming. Go here for a yummy, filling, healthy and inexpensive meal.
