What Our Expert Scouts Say

Daily Cafe In The Pearl

A reliable Pearl District favorite, this cheerful cafe is a good bet for a quick coffee and homemade pastry, or a sit down lunch/dinner. Salads are fresh and sizeable, I usually get the tarragon chicken.

Daily specials are written on butcher paper & hung at the counter. Place your order and look for a seat. The scramble with leeks, chard, mushrooms & pecorino was fabulous! Pastries, cookies, cake finish off your meal or grab one for a mid- day pick me up. Service was timely & friendly.

Best Latte. In meeting with our Real Estate agent from Realty Trust, we often found ourselves slipping into this great Cafe for a quick coffee, juice, snack - on the run - during our six month house hunting extravaganza. The atmosphere is friendly, the prices are great - costs a little more than Starbucks but who wouldn’t be willing to pay an extra quarter for quality? Plus after six months the nice ladies even knew the drink we liked, which is down-right amazing now-a-days. This Cafe is on our list to stay! Thanks for keeping us caffeinated!

Daily Cafe. The Daily Cafe at The Tram has a lot to be desired. Cleanliness or lack of is a big factor here. The kitchen staff and some of the wait staff wear clothes that look like they just got out of bed, and picked up what ever was laying on the floor and put them on.. Food being served in a place that has immunocompromised patient healthcare needs to be at the utmost clean and sanitary. Many times we've seen a worker there cough or be touching their hair and face, then go right back to handling food and not washing their hands. The cashiers handle your food, then your money. ICK! Food wise, they use to have a great chef, but now they just serve weird ingrediants in their food that does not go well, and definitely overpriced. This place needs a major overhall!

Unclean food. Daily Cafe was a regular restaurant for me and I am sad that I can't go there anymore. But after two incidents with things that shouldn't have been in my meal- the first was hair in the food. Well, I figured okay, these things happen. Then a few weeks later, there was pasta in my scrambled eggs (not part of the menu). I also saw the chef wipe his nose with the back of his hand and then continue to prepare the food.

I guess my immune system is good, but I won't give them another chance. It was too unappetizing to see someone else's food in my meal.

What Has Changed?. The Daily Cafe has always been one of my favorite dinning spots. It has always affordable and you seem to get a good meal for it. However I have found myself avoiding this place for Lunch. What always use to be great has now become average at the best. Dinner has changed a lot too. Where it use to be more fine dining, has now been scaled back to more comfort food. I have mixed emotions about this, but the food is still good. Overall I would recommend the Daily Cafe. Maybe miss lunch though and try dinner.

Great for Breakfast - A kid's view:. The music was hip, and I enjoyed the food. I had a good time looking at the art. I thought that the sausage was too rubbery. Overall, it was a really good place. It was the best oatmeal that my dad ever had! I want to come back soon.

Amazing dinner without the price or the "Pearl Attitude". I've been to the Daily Cafe twice for dinner and I've been blown away by the food and the surprising combinations of the food. The last time a friend and I went on a Friday night and were puzzled as to why more people weren't dining there. For appetizers we had the tempura prawns which were done to perfection. It was served with an asian pear and cilantro salad which was quite tasty with the homemade mustard. We also had the beet and arugala with herbed ricotta. Yummy! For the main dish we ordered the linguini with clams. OMG!!! Seriously, it was definitely in the top five pasta dishes I've ever had in my life. The noodles were perfect and the pork, garlic, chili flakes, and butter made the best sauce. Ask for more bread--you'll need it. We also ordered the pork tenderloin. It had a nice flavor and wasn't chewy at all. For dessert we had the chocolate dessert which kind of tasted like a p o t de creme in a small tart. It was very cocoa-y without being too sweet. We also shared the pear tartlet with maple ice cream. Mmmm... The ice cream had a caramel quality.

The wait staff was knowledgeable and very inviting and didn't rush us at all. The wine choice our server helped us with was spot on.

I've also had breakfast at the Daily Cafe and it was equally delicious.

Again, I'm not sure why dinner isn't more popular since it's really outstanding.

the best of the Daily Cafes. I've eaten at the Daily Cafe at the Tram (portions are skimpy), and the one on Grand (service is slow) and this is by far the best. Great panini sandwiches, busy bustling atmosphere, friendly service. Highly recommend for an inexpensive breakfast, lunch or brunch.

Amazing Sunday Brunch!. If' you only go to Daily Cafe once in your lifetime, let it be on a Sunday. Daily Cafe serves an amazing, and filling Sunday brunch. Their brunch menu, which changes from week to week is always innovative and delicious. Brunch comes with some amazing pastries (their currant scones are to die for!), an appetizer, and a main course. Their weekday menu is good, too, but nothing can top the brunch.

With its proximity to chichi lofts and offices, the inexpensive spot offers American fare for a see-and-be-seen lunch.. In Short
Banks of warehouse windows show off simple, modern tables and colorful Italian-style plastic chairs. Well-heeled Pearl dwellers and workers fill the place for lunch and weekend brunch. Lunch is the mainstay, offering light fare such as a wasabi tuna sandwich and tarragon chicken salad. Sunday brunch features the likes of rice pudding, an airy waffle or trout and eggs while the dinner menu showcases lamb with chickpea puree. Desserts range from cookies to dense chocolate cake.

sunday indulgence. i've never been to the daily for dinner, and i think lunch only once, but as most i know will agree, the sunday brunch is the main attraction. complete with a basket of wee, yummy, adorable little pastry, two courses of always-different and ever-amazing brunch dishes. the coffee is better than most breakfast places, and refilled constantly. the servers are really efficient and even with a party of 13 once, not a single order was goofed. it can be a little loud in there, though sitting under a sea of nelson lamps and the minimal, colorful atmosphere, is divine. while the volume can make conversation tricky, it's still one of the first places i take people visiting from out of town, and always to rave reviews.

we generally do sunday brunch after a 7-9 mile hike/run in forest park, so we feel we've 'earned' it and can actually finish everything!
