Process painting has been a godsend! If you are looking for freeing up the inner muse, this is a fantastic way to do so. I went to the Artspace studio with a little trepidation, because I always thought that I was completely without talent or skill in drawing or painting or any other "hands on" creative endeavor. I felt like I was at the kindergarten level of creativity; ie, stick figures, smiley faces, etc.. Yet what I learned from the very beginning from Kathy and just painting without any energy given to a product called a "painting", is that painting could be completely a verb, a process, without any concern for a finished product. What comes out from letting go of anything having to be "good" or "skilled" or "professional" or even "artistic", is that all the walls imprisoning creativity just blast open. Then you, yourself, are a process, and creativity is simply seeing whatever comes out, even if the mind interprets that as "kindergarten level" or "foolish" or whatever. I am always amazed by what arises from not painting a painting, but simply painting; letting colors flow and textures fill a canvas. Kathy is excellent in helping you to ask the questions that open up space for life. That's what process painting is: letting life happen, not as a goal, but as a moment to moment experience. Wonders ensue. I've never experienced any parking difficulties for the nightime classes or weekend workshops. Kathy has a multiplicity of paints and brushes right at your disposal. You can just let loose your eyes and hands and mind. Artspace is an inner open space where judgements are seen clear through, becoming transparent, so that the beauty that is creativity is simply seen to be the natural gift of who you are and what is already inside you, ready to express if given just a little open space.

Pros: Quite simply process painting is a freeing experience of going beyond all judgements

Cons: You have to give yourself the time and the space to nurture your creativity

This is the place you've been looking for; you just didn't know it. If you've ever been creative but especially if you've ever wanted to be but have stopped yourself because you were convinced you weren't "good enough", come to Artspace and try process painting. Kathy's method will help free you from your inner critic and unite you with the sheer joy that can be found in simply putting paint on paper. I've always been someone who has bought the paint (or pick your other art supply) but kept myself from using them because I knew that my efforts wouldn't produce perfection. Process painting has helped me move away from that need to produce something. Instead I get to spend 3 hours a week at Artspace just letting the paint flow on the paper however it wants. This is the most freeing experience. The freedom to create for creations sake that I've experienced here has spilled over into other aspects of my life, helping me to tap into and enjoy being creative in a wide variety of ways. Don' hesitate. Sign up for one of Kathy's workshops now. It can change your whole life!

Pros: Best place to paint ever.

Cons: parking can be hard to find
