Four years ago I bought a 240DL wagon and was quoted a large sum of money for a new overdrive sender unit. A friend suggested that I take it to Volvo's only and have their mechanics look at it first. Volvo's Only assured me that they could find a used one. They charged me 70% less than the other shop to have that mechanism purchased and installed. They have always given me options to buy new parts or they would hunt for used parts for fractions of prices. The mechanics never talk down to you and they are very attentive. Recently I bought a 1975 164e. No other Volvo shop would work on it because of it being vintage. I knew that it needed a new transmission. I wanted to switch out the automatic with a manual and did not have all the parts. They worked diligently on it fabricating parts to give me the results I wanted. I love my car! I bought s 240DL wagon off of Craig's List and it was junk. I wanted Rich to fix it and he took pity on me. He gave me a FULL trade in for a car that was mechanically sound and even prettier than the one I had originally purchased. He had me inspect it thoroughly and ask that I make a list of what I wanted him to fix. I did and he did not charge me more than the original price. I even complained that there was a mold smell and he not only cleaned the interior for me, he also brought an ionizer from his home and ran it in the car for over 24 hours to get that smell out completely. Rich's knows how to treat his customers. Sure, you have to wait sometimes to get your car back, but you have to do that with any auto mechanic. At least he will give you a fair price and quality work. All used cars come with some baggage. Anybody with half a brain knows that. If you want a somewhat hassle free car, go buy a new show room car and make your car payments and high insurance premiums. But just remember, even new cars break...

Pros: Good work and Great Prices

Cons: Sometimes you have to wait

They promised me that they had state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment that would find the problem, so I brought my car in. Then they forgot to contact me for several days while my car languished in their shop, not being worked-on. When they finally gave me a time and a date to pick-up my car, I arrived, only to be told that it would be awhile before they were finished. I noticed that one of their mechanics dashed out of the shop, and when he returned, he handed another mechanis a fuel pump to install in my car! They hadn't even started working on my car yet! In the end, I paid to have a fuel pump replaced, even though this wasn't even close to the problem. I went to another shop and they fixed it immediately.

Pros: They didn't murder me.

Cons: oy vey, where to start...
