Editorial Review for Papa John's Pizza – by Jason Clampet
In Short
These bright white storefronts are accented with green and red details and photos of the chain's boyish founder. The simple menu focuses on standard pies and chicken-centric specialty pizzas--the Hawaiian BBQ, BBQ chicken, and bacon and chicken club--each topped with fresh ingredients like baby portobello mushrooms and roma tomatoes. A selection of sides includes bread sticks, cheese sticks, chicken strips and a handful of dipping sauces.

My opinion of Papa Johns is 180* from the first reviewer. I found the pizza to have a great tasting crust, and the fact that you can taste the crust is unique in a chain pizza restaurant. The pizza had a very flavorful sauce and better toppings than any other chain out there. The vegetables they use are fresh, not from a can. I know this because I watched them bring the vegetables out from their cooler and chop them up. The cheese tasted like a fresh mozzarella and was great, the service was friendly and the pizza tasted nice and fresh! I would highly recommend Papa Johns to anyone, by far it is the best of the chains I've had. Everyone will have their opinion but this truely is a good pizza, I'll think I'll call and order another one up right now! I ordered the Spicy Italian pizza.

In it's efforts not to offend anyone, Papa John's has successfully created a pizza experience devoid of any distinction, flavor, or creativity. On a recent trip to Papa John's that was part impulse and part apathy, a couple of friends and I had the misfortune of ordering a pepperoni pie and a garden fresh pie. The vegetables seemed to retain the flavor of the cans that they came out of and the pepperoni was hardly to be found beneath the somehow tasteless cheese. Both pies were undercooked and even our dog wouldn't eat the breadsticks that we ordered. If there's anything good to be said about Papa John's, it is fairly cheap as long as you stick with the specials. However, most would be better off going for a local (not chain) pizza shop or even picking up a pizza from the frozen section of a grocery store.
Pros: Cheap, Quick
Cons: , Not a Good Value
