Portland >Food & Dining > Ponderosa Lounge-Cascade Grill
Great place to unwind and listen to country and rockabily. More of an older crowd with good music, large dance floor and a great staff. There is a bit of turnover in the wait staff but good service and great management always. We always feel that no matter what, they will handle things. Manager is hands on and seems to know what is needed to keep things running smoothly.
My Brother and I both got very sick after eating there.. My Brother and I came in one day and ate from the cascade grill. I ended up getting very sick and had the runs the worst than I ever have. Then a couple days go by and we ate there again. This time He gets sick and has the runs like he has never before. Not to mention the stomach aches. The service was very slow every time I have ever been in there. I've been in there a whole lot of times. they do seem pretty friendly though.
Stay far away from this pit, awful music, and poor service. My boyfriend and I stopped in after hoping to relax and have a good time. We sure didn't! The server didn't bring our drinks for over 20 minutes, and they were watered down. I wouldn't tell anyone to go here, as there are much better options. I'm surprised this place is stil open considering how poorly it seems to be ran. How about some diversity in the music on your schedule? What I heard was loud and horrible.
Best Place to Country Dance - NEW in January 2009: Texas-sized dance floor.
I love this place ! Let me tell you about it:
The best country bar in Portland; a legendary lounge featuring Live Country Music for over 30 years. No cover charge
Huge, Open honkytonk easily seats several hundred, and its NEW (JAN 2009) Texas-size dance floor is filled with dancers most any night of the week. Attracting a multi-generational crowd, everyone is made to feel welcome. Though service at times can be a bit slow - you can always stop by the bar on your way in to pick up your first beverage. With few exceptions, the staff are pleasant and professional. (I suggest not judging an establishment by one visit or one server).
In addition to the live music and dancing:
Mondays & Tuesdays: Country karaoke.
Wednesdays and Thursdays: DJ & Dancing (free dance lessons 7:30-8:30pm).
Fridays Live music & Dancing (free dance lessons 7:30-8:30pm).
Saturdays Live Music & Dancing
Occasional special events featuring national touring acts and comedy all-stars.
There are also Pool Tables, Sports on big screens, Oregon Lottery games and Video Poker Machines
Conveniently located off I-5, Exit 307. Easy access to the EXPO Center, Delta Park, Portland International Raceway, Portland Speedway, Jantzen Beach and the Portland International Airport. Just minutes away from Vancouver with historic Fort Vancouver, and a short drive from downtown Portland.
The Ponderosa Lounge is part of the Portlander Inn & Marketplace featuring

truck stop. Great bar, they have two dance floors and live bands three nights a week with DJ's on other nights. The majority of the bar is non-smoking but they do have a smoking area with pool tables, big screen, and video poker. Food is really good and lots of it.
Editorial Review by Ivy Manning. Line dancing, live country music and weekly poker nights attract cowboys and cowgirls alike to this truck stop lounge.
