I have to agree with the other reviews here. My daughter does not attend Maher Irish Dance Academy, nor has she, but we run into them quite a bit at events etc with my daughters group. The term "academy" is pretty loose here as they do not have any credentials and the instructors do not have any college degrees, looking at their website they can barely spell. The school is run by a lady who has quite the reputation for being rather "mean spirited" to put it lightly, we have seen her yell at students and even her own family at events and spends a lot of time screaming on her cell phone. I don't mean to make the review personal, but I would not want my daughter in that sort of environment, she has a hard enough time learning the routines. There are plenty of real schools with qualified instructors in the Portland area that I would suggest you look into first.

My daughter took a few classes from the Maher Irish Dance Academy and it was a bad experience. They are not very professional and are generally not very nice, it felt like a bit of a scam actually. There are better and more professional schools in the Portland area that will both teach Irish Dance as well as care a bit more about your child.
Pros: Great costumes, Chance to do live performances
Cons: Unfriendly and a little mean, price is ridiculous
