I'm one of many Portlandia transplants. And I've been a loyal Bishops worshipper for 5 years hands down. They're quirky and really set the scene for the quintessential place to get a rockin' cut without pretension. Yeah sometimes the stylists can come across aloof and uncaring, but wouldn't you after cutting the hair of the spawn of suburbanites flocking to them every weekend? These guys and gals know a thing or two about giving you a personalized cut or color without judgement. And go ahead and bring in that picture you found on myspace of the scenester kid with badass hair...The stylists are more than happy to work with you and make that style your own. As for their walk-in only policy...When you walk in the door on a weekend, take a look at how many people are already waiting and how many stylists are there, then take a look at the sign up sheet..If it's obvious that there are quite a few people in front of you and you're not really down with waiting, then this isn't the place for you...If you're looking for a quick, cheap trim...Go to a chain like Supercuts. Otherwise blot down you name, the receptionist should be able to give you a time estimate....So go enjoy the neighborhood. But if you're still hard up about getting that edgy new 'do, go midweek when the line is far shorter.

Anyone who gives a vague, skathing review is generally a former employee (who got fired for doing really bad hair) Bishops wouldn't be a Portland destination if it sucked so bad. It also wouldn't have been around for as long as it has. I've had nothing but great success from my experiences.
Pros: greatest greatness
Cons: long waits on weekends
