Table was reserved for 3 at.
Table was reserved for 3 at 1830 on a Wednesday evening. The manager on duty was a Ms. S. Strom.
The server took the order for two sweet manhattans, a single glass of Pinot Gris, and an order of Calamari. The Manhattans were weak , the Pinot was one half of a small wine glass, and the Calamari never arrived. The dinner order were two orders of crab cakes, a Prawn Platter. The crab cakes were mostly filler and dry. The Prawns were actually about 20 ct. Shrimp, most likely ordered from Syscoâ??s. At least they were of that quality.
After addressing the wine order, only being a half glass, the server offered to bring
an additional glass that would be considered a normal serving at most restaurants. She
returned with another half glass and was asked to return it as unsatisfactory.
The bill was tallied and the Calamari had to be removed as not having been served. The
manager came out and explained that the wine was a standard pour of 4 ozâ??s. I begged
to differ. She claimed that was standard practice. First, I doubt it was even 3 ozâ??s, let alone 4. After she, left the server offered to take the inadequate serving of wine off the bill. Another bill was then brought over by the manager and she said that she could only take off the glass that was not served, as if she were going to charge for the unserved order.
The server was very nice. The manager was very surly and aloof. I believe the poor operation they have a McGrathâ??s totally reflects the attitude of the manager. I would never take guests there, do to the marginally adequate food, inadequate bar fair, and the extremely surliness of the manager that was on duty at the time. The restaurant may have been half full at the time, so there was no excuse for such poor service by a restaurant. Iâ??m surprised they are still in business.
THE WORST EVER!!!.
"This last visit was the worst experience I have ever had in this establishment!
The food was the worst it has ever been. Starting with the salad, it was slimy, watered down and had chunks that looked like mucus in it. We barely had 2 bites and brought it to the attention of the server for which we then listened to excuses like they maybe had just spun the salad but when I showed her the mucus looking thing she said it was probably at the bottom of their container and would we like something else. I said no thanks but my husband asked for a cup of fisherman's stew. When she returned with clam chowder instead we didn't bother to say anything because it had taken long enough for her to return with that!!!
Then our meal came, my husband ordered MED RARE steak and it was completely black on the bottom side, I mean CHARCOAL! I had the salmon that was so saturated in oil or butter that it coated your mouth... and when you pushed on the fish oil oozed out. The baby reds were incredibly mushy which we both had. I asked the server if there was a new cook back there because this was awful! She said no and that she is sorry we were not pleased but did nothing for it!!! Our bill was not adjusted in the slightest!! We left very disappointed and HUNGRY! I was sitting there eating the package of oyster crackers when she came to pick up our plates."
Best seafood!!!!! and great atmosphere. I visit here often and I really enjoy the food and service. The staff is very personable and the food is great! I always eat the Halibut Parmesan and I love the fact that they have and Oyster bar and serve fresh Oysters from right here in the Pacific NW! The restaurant is large party friendly and they have very comfortable seating. If you want great seafood or steaks McGrath's is the place!
