In Short
The lush red walls, Asian artwork and selected pieces of old-school American furniture combine for a well-heeled, East-meets-West feel. The room is large without feeling cavernous and there are both tables and a small bar. Features include simple but tasty wine choices and a hip vibe. The wine list offers nearly 30 selections, available by the glass or bottle. Small plates of food are available, including a tasty cheese and olive platter, salads, pastas and desserts.

I think these guys should stick to what they do best; happy hour, light dinner and great drinks. Although our waitress was very sweet, attentive, and thorough, the eggs we undercooked, the ham was really, really salty and overcooked, and the lemon crepes were waaaaay too sweet. Add in a few 'endless champagnes', (brilliant marketing, however - only three of us had the champagne) you have a bad breakfast for four at $78 - and that's before the tip. In all, this is one of my favorite places in town for nightime fun but I likely will not be back for morning fare.

It may be crowded on the weekends and there might be lots of couples on dates in this romantically decorated "hotel", but they have the best French Martini and the food's good too. I've tried the enchiladas and the cheese plate and I've had some of the drink specials which were rather tasty as well. I love the decor at this unique spot.

I called in advance to see if it was o.k. to bring our own birthday cake, which it was. Our party started rolling in at 8 pm. As our group expanded the wait staff found us more chairs until other near-by tables emptied out. No one had to wait long to order drinks that were top notch. I ordered some of the house's specialty cocktails that were excellent - there bartenders know how to pour! Though most of us had already eaten, we ordered up a number of appetizers after a few rounds of drinks. The dates wrapped in bacon were perfect ( o hard crusty skins o the dates - they were warm and soft and melted in your mouth with a silky texture next to the smoky-saltiness of the bacon) We also got an anti-pasta platter that was nearly licked clean by the time we left. The kitchen dressed up the birthday cake and served it with a beautiful light fresh fruit garnish. They also found some birthday candles, which I had forgotten, and didn't embarrass the birthday boy by singing - his friends took care of that. We came from out of town to a place we had never been to have, what became, a fabulous night. The ambiance and staff at the Sapphire were a big part of that success!
