I was there with about 10 people last night...we paid our money for the haunted maze and we were told that the wait would be "1 hour." We thought this was excessive, but decided to do it anyway because we had kids with us and they really wanted to go in. We waited and waited and the line was barely moving. Then...all these people started walking around us in line. There were so many of them that people in our line started getting really upset. We asked one of them who they were and they said they were a church group of 120 people. The entire 120 went in front of our line! This was shocking...but it gets better. 45 minutes later, we had only moved about 30 feet when another large group started going around us. I counted about 40 people total. Now people in our line were getting even angrier. After we had been in line for about an hour total, we started getting cold and the kids were tired of waiting and we still seemed to be a very long way from the entrance of the maze. We asked an employee how long our wait would be at this point. He told us that it would be about 1 hour and 45 minutes more! When we asked why about 200 people were allowed to go in front on the line, he replied that "they made reservations and put down a deposit." Wow. I would have put down a deposit had I known. I also wouldn't have bothered bringing my whole family out in the cold on a Friday night, bundling them up and telling them how fun it was going to be had I known that the wait would be hours long. An hour and a half into the wait and not much closer to the entrance of the maze, we decided (and so did a lot of others in line) that it wasn't worth it. We got refunded and left. The kids were really upset and our whole night was wasted and ruined. I wouldn't bother with this place again. They don't understand how to effectively control a crowd.

Pros: The idea is neat and it's spooky outside at night

Cons: You can't get in unless you wait for hours on end

First off, Sauvie Island is amazing and the variety of fresh produce is well worth the short drive. HOWEVER, when people say that it is crowded in October, that is a complete understatement. We got out there to go to the Haunted Maize at around 7:30 p.m. As we turned off 30 to go over the bridge onto Sauvie Island, I wanted to throw the car into reverse and forget the whole idea. All I could see were miles and miles of backed up cars waiting to leave. As far as the eye could see, were headlights. When we got to the Haunted Maize, the line was backed up over an hour just to get to the gate. At the gate we were told it was was another 40-60 minute wait to get to the entrance. We bought our tickets at 7:45 and we made it to the actual entrance at 11:05. We were out at 11:25. It was spooky and fun inside but way too short. Somehow they manage to make the choas somewhat organized. If you have a placeholder in line, there are many shops, pumpkin patches and food vendors to visit while you wait. Good luck!

Pros: Nice variety, many things to do, two spooky mazes, organized crowd control

Cons: Ridiculous crowds, long, long lines (think Disneyland during the busiest day of the year)
