The Curry Leaf in the Bethany Center in Portland has wonderful Indian food at very reasonable prices. Their nan bread was absolutely wonderful. They have a nice menu selection and the service is very good. There is a display kitchen, so you can watch as the chefs prepare the food which is kind of fun. The atmosphere is light and contemporary and when we were there, it really wasn't very crowded. I've been by a few times and seen a buffet, so check their web site, because they may have details on specials and when they have the buffet. If you live in the Bethany area, you are right around the corner from wonderful Indian food. Check it out!
I just moved in to town and have been
searching for good vegetarian food, but never did I think I would find this amazing Indian Vegetarian restaurant. Itâ??s a small place, no more than 10 tables, but the atmosphere has a great vibe.
The food was sooo delicious!!! I have never eaten food that had so much flavor! I am new to being a vegetarian and if all vegetarian food tasted this good, I would have turned Vegetarian a long time ago.
My favorite dish was the GOBI MANCHURIAN BITES.
UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought it was chicken or meat, but it was fried cauliflower tossed in an indo Chinese flower. This is a must try if you go here.
I will be back
Curry leaf - Worst indian food ever.
Hi,
This is my first ever review in life. This is an authentic review and I am in no way related to the restaurant. I and my husband went to Curry leaf yesterday hoping to eat to some good indian food. But the food was the worst ever indian food I have ever had. The service was also very very poor. We ordered Gobi manchurian for appetizer. They did not provide separate appetizer plates for both of us. They just placed the appetizer in the plate and we had to eat it with the fork. The quantities were also very less. It hardly contained some 10 small gobi pieces for 8 dollars. Same case with the main dish too. After the main dish arrived also, they din't give us plates to eat. We had ask for the plates. Later, my husband waited for a long time to refill the water. The waitress never came to us and we had ask for water again. Very unappealing. The food also tasted horrible and not even 10% close to authentic indian food. I learnt from the following reviews that Curry leaf was taken over by new owners. I do not know how the food tasted before. But it tastes really horrible now. Folks, save your money and go to some other good indian restaurant. We are never going back again.
Thanks.
New Owners...Better Service...Awesome Food!.
I agree with a majority of visitors here that Curry Leaf used to suck big time. I visited 2 years ago and swore I'd never return. However, there's good news!
The ownership of the restaurant has changed. A couple now runs the place and they have changed the menu to make it 100%vegetarian. That's terrific for hardcore veggy/vegan guys like me! What's more? The service is way better and the staff actually smile at you!
My family was visiting from India and when we had dinner here 2 weeks ago, we had to agree that the dosa and oothappam were as authentic as what you'd find in Chennai! I did not see a wine list on the table but bear in mind that their menu boasts of South Indian quick eats and fast foods. Don't expect to find a wide selection of alchohol.
The owners have also opened a grocery store right next door so you can pick up your favourite Indian spices after your meal. I believe their Saturday buffet lunch offers the best value for money among Indian restaurants in town.
Overall, really happy with the facelift !
The worst place in town.
The food was reheated,
1/2 of the menu items are not available
The service is terrible
The worst thing was when the waitress informed us that the tip should be 15%...... I was unhappy about the service and the poor quality of food, our bill was 50 dollars even, so I left 57 dollars on the table …. When we were walking out the restaurant the waitress stopped us and asked me for additional 50 cents because the 15% of 50 is $7.50…. that was ridiculous…. I gave her one dollar and I asked for 50 cents back.
Waste of time and money, worst service ever. The service is awfull. The waiter doesn't even ask at all or at any time what and if something needed, doesn't check to see if everuthing is all right, if you try ordering something from the menu, you find out that they do not have most of the things on it. We tried to order tea and were told that there is actually only one kind that they do serve, they were out of the other two. Same with the desert, they were out of the first 4 but they said they do have the 5th one. They never brought a wine list to the table, so, when we asked about, they said, yes, we do have one and brought one to the table. All trought the dinner, even if they were not busy at all, the waitress never came to check on us. The barbequed meat is unbelievable dry and seems like it was cooked a week before and now, just reheat it. The service and food at this restaurant are misserable, they should not even be in the business of serving as they treat their patrons like crap and they can only offer half of the menu, as the other half they are out of it, even when the restaurant was quite empty at the time we were there.
This place is actually very good!. We recently found CL and love the Masala and Garlic Nan. Great food, large portions and actually very good prices.
