Editorial Review for Corbett Fish House – by Otis Rubottom

In Short
Nautical charts of the Northwest line the walls at this cozy neighborhood pub. The bright, two-roomed space is decked out with simple, dark wood tables and chairs and no-frills table settings. The best choices come from the fryer. Fish and chips have a house-recipe batter and a crispy outside/tender inside. Choose from chili-sauced catfish, meltingly tender halibut, oysters or the house-favorite walleye--a firm and succulent freshwater fish. Huckleberry ice cream and a serious chocolate brownie await for dessert.

I have been to Corbett's a couple times now. Their chowder is excellent as is just about everything that they fry there. The halibut and catfish are fantastic. Service is always friendly and its got a pretty good atmosphere, ie Packers banners and nautical charts. You can get the fish spicy if you like. They also offer a spicy tartar dipping sauce. The fish tacos are just ok. They dont put enough fish in them for my taste. But if I am going out for fish and chips there is only one choice, Corbetts. It may be the best fish and chips I have ever had.

Originally from Michigan and lake perch was a once or twice weekly menu item. Moved to Oregon and no lake perch could be found until I found an advertisement for Corbetts. Ever since then I have been a Corbetts customer and haven't found anything near like it in Portland metro area. Thanks for continuing my Michigan memories.
