There should be a no stars option. My boyfriend and I came here to meet some friends after dinner, a little more dressed up than usual for this place. We walked in and immediately felt profiled. A red Headed female bartender approached us and asked what we wanted to drink. Having taken a minute to pick between the two taps we could see, a decision was made.
I told this bartender that I was surprised there weren't more taps (I haven't been here since I started to drink beer other than pabst). With a very irritated tone she informed me there were around the side and naturally I asked what (it seems that I was supposed to do my own leg work). This was an obvious inconvenience. She named 1 other thing and already we were quick to say," yeah we'll change our oder to that." She got sassy and gave us a sharp "sure, just tell me what you want already."
I apologized and asked her if that would be a problem. ( I work as a bartender too and have an understanding for what kinds of crap you get dealt. This place was not very busy and too, was adequately staffed. Maybe if I had taken off my jacket and exposed my tattoos I wouldn't have been misinterpreted.
Her response was, " Are you being a C*NT right now?" absolutely baffled I responded, "Actually, no...I'm not" She continued on telling me that if I wanted to be a C*NT then I could leave. I said at this point that I wasn't comfortable staying and explained that I was now going around the corner to grab my friends.
Yelling and screaming that she was calling the cops, she asked the security guard to follow me and escort me out. I didn't fight any of this because I couldn't believe what was happening. Right out of left field. Like a dream or a funny house. I grabbed my friends headed for the door. As I was walking out, some friend of hers starts yelling to me that I was told to leave and then ran after me and spit on the arm of my jacket. I walked out shaking my head and laughing because it was truly the worst and most insane service (or lack of) I have ever had.I still can't believe it.
In conclusion this is a poorly ran establishment, where the staff couldn't care less about servicing customers. I'm sorry this women took me the wrong way, it's really too bad. It's sad that her insecurities would drive her to blow a such a petty situation....... way out of proportion.
This is a great place to eat out if you're around Hawthorne.
3 great things:
1) Food is delicious. Try the garlic green beans with beef and the hot and sour soup. You won't regret it. (And it's affordable!)
2) Atmosphere is classy, warm, and welcoming. Perfect for date nights or hanging out with friends.
3) Service is excellent. Quick, kind, attentive waiters complete the experience.
Must go! It's simply: amazing.
i love them. everything ive gad there has been great! The chicken, and curry are fantastic.
Bad food.. I don't want to give it one star because I had a much worse experience in a Sushi place in Hillsboro just now that left me ill....so, two stars here since I was not sick afterwards. That pretty much is the only good thing I can say about this place. Been there once - that was enough. The curry was bland & what I particularly dislike, it was thickened up with starch. Indeed as the previous reviewer mentions, the papaya sald was flavorless (too much time int he freezer on the veggies??). These guys have never heard of any Thai spices apparently...salt & pepper - that's all! I can't believe a place like this can survive in Portland -- there are so many good (& a few GREAT) Thai places. I guess there's enough one-time-suckers (like us!) to keep them going.
BAD PLACE FOR THAI FOOD. 2 of the 3 Thai dishes were done so badly I'm not sure they were thai any longer. The Tom Kha was curdled tasting (missing lime maybe?) and the Papaya salad tasted like it was dressed with Italian salad dressing.
My boyfriend and I went to Chopsticks last year, and we really like the place. We ordered Calamari as appetizers and it was great! We ordered two main dishes, one of them being a fried rice dish. The fried rice included Chinese sausage, and my boyfriend loves it!
The atmosphere is great and the staff is friendly. One thing I don't like about the place was the placement of the table. It was really cold when anyone enter and leave at the place my boyfriend and I were seated. Other than that, I would recommend Chopstick to everyone.
Best Asian Restaurant Ever!. The food is fantastic. I try to come here as often as I could. My favorite dish here has to be the garlic green beans. Appetizer you ask? Hot and sour soup with salad rolls. To top off the meal with a nice chilly Thai Iced Tea that is always made to perfection every time I go there. Along with great customer service, what more can you ask?
Good soup & service...but I must've ordered the wrong thing.
I wish I had read the reviews before I went. I went to Chopsticks for lunch today and it was almost empty inside. Not sure why-there were plenty of tables and the interior was nice and cool. Maybe because there are a lot of other restaurants in the area?
I ordered the General Tsao's Chicken to go and it came with hot and sour soup for $5.25. I ate the soup first and it was wonderful-spicy and fresh with some different herbs than the usual fare. The fried rice was pretty good too. But the General Tsao's Chicken was really bad-way too salty, too chewy, and not at all spicy. I wish I had gotten one of the noodle bowls since it had sounded good and is apparently the dish to get there from what I've read here. I might try it again, but will not get the traditional American-Chinese dishes.
Good quick asian food and friendly service.
This place is very good if you want some quick varied take out with plenty to like for both meat eaters and vegetarians. The take-out is good and quick, service is prompt and courteous and the food is pretty tasty, as long as you're not aiming for anything that's especially mind-blowing or authentic.
A fine combination of comfort food and southeast Asian favorites... the appetizers in particular are quite tasty.
Great food, fast service. I've been to chopsticks many times and I've never had a bad meal there. The curry is delicious, along with the cashew chicken and the kung pao. I like the fact that they have a selection of Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai food to choose from, so there is quite a variety. A little expensive for dinner, but nothing more than you would usually pay at a nice Thai restaurant for example.
