Thank goodness for NEW MANAGEMENT!!.
Awesome bartenders who remember you!!! The bartender Ben is great with remembering YOU and even your drink. Not sure of what you want? Well…he will make it!! What a gift he has!!! TVs everywhere (can you say sports?!!), pool table area, newly upgraded atmosphere, great drinks (great!!), video machines, awesome happy hour!
I went to Peters and the bartender remembered my name, suggested a drink for me when I didn’t know what I wanted but knew about the ingredients I wanted. He used the orange press people! Every time I am there I challenge his skills and he always amazes me!
The place has great management, I have met them! They actually have come in to enjoy their own food and beverages and know almost everyone by name there (including me now)!
The breakfast on weekends was terrific too! Ever had a Crab Cake Eggs Benedict?! They have it here!! The owner of Clyde’s Prime Rib off of Sandy took this place and flipped it into a better place!
TVs, stiff drinks, great food (some from the Prime Rib place at a discount), and awesome bartenders!! Who needs more?! Not me! I found my Cheers!
Best Fish and Chips in all of PDX. Peter's 19th Hole is the only place for fish and chips. The. Only. Place. They make their own batter with the beer on tap, and often add herbs to the batter to enhance flavor. Chips are best upgraded to garlic parm fries. Sunday's offer $2 Bloody Mary's, some of the best in PDX, also. And kids are cool 'til 8 pm. Sweet!
service is horrible now.
Peter's was my favorite weekend place for about 2 years. Its just a neighborhood bar with pretty darn good food and drinks. Over the summer the weekend shifts got switched from Helen, who always gave GREAT service to someone else. I loved going to Peters for a midday weekend cocktail, reading the Sunday paper and having a great Ruben. Now, we sit for 5 or more minutes before being acknowledged, then for 5 or more minutes while our drinks are being forgotten. I understand circumstances if the bar is busy, I have waited tables for 5 years, but when its not busy its just plain rude to walk past someone numerous times without a simple hi. It just isn't welcoming or pleasant or satisfactory. Sadly, I am now in search of a new weekend hang out. I have no choice but to boycott Peters, except for Thursday and Friday nights when Helen still works. It pains me, but I am just not willing to endure the abuse anymore.
If the owner to Peters is out there, you need to have a little talk with your manager..you are loosing a lot of customers in a tough economy. People are still spending money, but not to be treated this way.
Some bartenders may lack in service n social skills. However, if you really wanted it that bad...why didn't you go ask for it? Besides, has our society gotten so out of touch with one another that we can't even communicate with the people serving our food n drink? That we post things on the internet instead of dealing with the problems we have with one another face to face? Depressing. Really.
Not really a sports bar. Peter's has a split personality and needs to decide whether it's a sports bar or a neighborhood dive. I have to remind myself not to go there for games because the waitresses would rather listen to music than turn up the volume on the TV. They have cheap drink specials (bloody mary, Jack and coke, etc.) and the fettucine alfredo (complete with fresh vegetables on the side) is outstanding when their best cook is in the kitchen.
This sports bar-slash-pub offers has surprisingly tasteful decor and tasty food..
In Short
Decked out in dark wood and forest green, with minimal neon, this Fremont eatery is less sports bar than old-time pub. Booths and an open kitchen cozy up the small room, and bright-red swivel chairs and plaid carpeting give a cool nod to the '60s. The menu offers typical but well-done pub grub. Typical dishes include burgers, fries, nachos, as well as smoky artichoke dip or spinach salad with sweet, subtle tarragon dressing.
