Yummy Takeout!. Yummy Garden is a great place for Chinese takeout. The prices are low, and the staff are extremely friendly. The best thing about this place is that they are open till eleven p.m. so when I get off work late I call them and my food is ready in ten minutes! I recommend the General Tsao's chicken, which is especially "yummy."
Won't Go Back. I am a transplanted east-coaster perpetually looking for chinese food like that which can be found in NJ. I ordered pot stickers and sweet and sour chicken from Yummy Garden. The food was surprisingly similar to NJ chinese food. Over-fried white meat chicken, dumplings with greasy dough and inedible pork inside. However, I felt really gross afterwards (not usually a by-product in NJ) and there were some questionable parts in my chicken. This meal cost me $15, which was way too much for me to go back again. I wouldn't recommend going here.
yummy garden..the name says it all!. The food at this restaurant is delicious. The atmosphere is very nice and the employes are very friendly. Some food i dont care for like the chow mein.
Good Food, Filthy Atmosphere.
We are regulars at Yummy. We went there yesterday for an early dinner, and were appalled to see how filthy it had become. Just two guys working, and one of them was absent most of the time, hiding in the back on the telephone. The salt and pepper , soy sauce and table condiments were filthy to the touch!
This place needs some serious cleaning and sanitizing attention!
Also, most importantly- the bathroom has NO soap or paper towels, ever. What does that tell you? The food server should not be handling the cash or lottery machine if they are serving the food, with dirty hands on the serving plates. Enough said!!
Good food for not a lot of duckets..
I've only eaten here once, but it was great. We ordered some take-out and the server that helped us was extremely friendly and chatty. Since it was my first time she recommended a vegetarian dish (bean curd family style) that was super delicious. The husband had General Tsao's Chicken. Both were great dishes that fed us for three meals. That's a good deal for less than $20.00. The fortune cookies are home made and superb.
Next time I would like to dine in because they have a whacky movie theme throughout the store. Lots of random autographed memorobilia to look at. Cool figurines as well. Love the yummy garden.
Great Food and Service. By far this is the best chinese restaurant i've found in Portland. Each time has been a great experience the staff is very nice and attenative and the restaurant is nice and clean. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants great chinese food. Also the menu is great and affordable when your food comes out the plate is full and fresh. Yummy Garden is very Yummy !
The Best and Freshest Chinese Food in the City!!!. Chinese Food is one of my favorites and Yummy Gardens has the best menu in town. They are friendly and very attentive. The food is fresh, flavorful and EVERYONE that I bring along raves about how great the food is. You can't go wrong here!
i love it here. Yummy Garden is great. I eat there at least once every other week. The staff are super friendly and quick to serve. I love the General Tsos chicken, Orange Beef and Moo Shoo plates. Like everyone else is saying, its a great place to eat if youre in the neighborhood.
Good Neighborhood restaurant.. I am a regular customer at Yummy Garden because it is near where I live. The food is good, if you are in the mood for chinese food. The service is fast, excellent and friendly. My boyfriend is a picky eater and they always try to accomodate his picky tastes. The prices are good. There are plenty of booths and it is rather roomy if you just want to sit and read a newspaper. There is also outdoor seating in the summer and there is plenty of parking. I cannot say that I would drive from outside of Portland to come here, but if you live in the Sellwood/brooklyn/hawthorne area, it is a good place when you get the craving for Chinese food.
