My personal pick for Portland’s top doughnut shop, this Alberta mainstay always seems to have a full case and plenty of options ‘fresh from the oven.’ Cake, crueller, chocolate-glazed? I don’t know. Two of each! Plus a few buttermilk bars. Love the all-accommodating hours too.

Late-night spot with a small-town feel. Big apple fritters, sour cream bar donuts, and buttermilk maple bars are worth a stop.

Hit up Tonalli's late, after a date or having a few on Alberta. Try the Buttermilk Bar, and don't stand in line for an hour (Salt and Straw) to do so.

Tips for Tonalli's Donuts & Cream

Their donuts are decent, but since they started carrying Umpqua brand ice cream, I feel much more confident to stroll in and get a cone. Chocolate peanut butter is hard to come by in a town that loves to have gourmet flavors like lemon basil to the point where you can't even find the basic flavors you actually crave. This place has 'em and has been around forever.

DRY DONUTS.
I am not sure why everyone flocks to this place for donuts, they are not good. They have always been dry for me. I decided to have a sandwich one time and the girl or guy, can't remember who had the dirtiest hands ever, i couldn't even finish it. No gloves are worn in between touching any food in this place and touching your money and usally only 1 person is in front working the counter.
Pass on it.
