El Charrito is hard to beat.. i have ate at a lot of mexican places, this place is the best, worth the trip, great food and good people.

The Best Mexican Restaurant in the Portland Metro Area HANDS DOWN!. I have been here three times now and have yet to be disappointed. The first time there I tried an authentic ground beef Chalupa. Amazing! The shell was crispy and melt-in-your-mouth good. The beef was perfectly seasoned and stuffed in my Chalupa with lettuce and melty cheese. It was so good that my girlfriend stole some of it and ordered one of her own the next time we visited.

My girlfriend is practically a Mexican food snob. She's originally from Tucson, Arizona and up until we found this place she never was really satisfied with any Mexican restaurants in the Portland area. Even the La Carreta in its hay-day couldn't compete with the quality of food here. Seriously, this is THE Mexican restaurant for this area.

The service here is also a plus. The servers are prompt and helpful. Refills for drinks come almost magically. It's like the minute you finish your drink a refill is plopped onto your table.

I know that for some Portlanders or visiters to the Portland area that this would be a bit out of the way for a restaurant but if you are a Mexican food lover, this is the place to be. It's well worth the drive.
