Wonderful and helpful!. I am the Mother of the Bride, and I highly recommend Mike Piper at An Affair to Remember. There is no better vote of confidence in a wedding planner than to return to him for a second wedding, and that is exactly what our family is doing! Mike did such a wonderful and professional job planning our older daughter's wedding, we knew immediately that we would turn to him again when our younger daughter became engaged! Not only does Mike know weddings inside out, he also knows all the local venues, and a host of local vendors. Most important, he takes the time to figure out the bride's wishes, tastes, and needs. He listens to her, and to the MOB. He negotiates difficult moments, diplomatically helping to bridge differing expectations. He helps a bride sort through her own wishes and dreams, and offers a range of options in styles and price. When the Father of the Bride tells his second engaged daughter, "If you want it done right, go to Mike!" you know that Mike's won a critical vote of confidence! And he most certainly did. We anticipate another "affair to remember," and it will be all the more enjoyable because Mike is taking care of the myriad details. We trust him completely and recommend him highly.…
AMAZING RESULTS.
Mike at An Affair to Remember is, in one word, amazing. He is professional, prompt, and knowledgeable about all aspects of wedding planning and about ways to DIY to cut costs, and he flat out knows
how to transform a space into a WOW experience.
I am not sure why he recieved the two reviews below that are less than flattering but my experience was not at all what they described. Mike didn't mention money in the way they suggest to me at our initial meeting and was very open to any budget.
I hired him to help with my recent wedding at Timberline Lodge and he really took the time to get to know me, my style, my vision, and my budget. He offered concrete ideas about how to get the most “bang for our buck” with Timberline, the invitations, the transportation, and favors. He spent hours putting together my “DIY” invitations for me, saving me quite a bit of money. He helped create the wording for the invitations, programs and menus, which we also DIYed. He researched transportation options and gave me a detailed list of rates and specifics for various companies. He has a warehouse full of items such as candelabras, vases, urns, cake stands, centerpieces, and more that you have free access to if you use his services: that in and of itself is incredibly valuable. Mike spent quite a bit of time talking to the Timberline people arranging our menu and negotiating how to tailor the catering menu to give us exactly what we wanted without incurring extra costs. He has a great relationship with Timberline. Mike also spent time assisting our cake baker with making the cutest mini candied apples which we used as favors. He also coordinated with our cake baker, photographer and DJ to arrange meetings efficiently according to my schedule.
I was constantly on wedding blogs during this time, coming up with ideas and sending them to him to see if he agreed it would work with the wedding, such as using antique boxes on the favor table, and many more ideas. He was very open to my input and took what I gave him and made it beautiful.
Mike is not only a wedding planner but also does flowers too. The flowers he did for our wedding made such an impression with our guests. I had a number of guests tell me that my wedding was the most beautiful wedding they had ever been to. I feel I owe it to Mike for making it happen.

NOT WORTH IT!!!.
I was so excited to meet with this business to discuss our wedding. We went into the meeting feeling like we were on top of the world. Everything was going great until we told him our budget. (which
was far from small) From that point on we were treated like second class citizens. He had the audacity to tell me that we could go out in the field and cut our own flowers the day before... I left crying. I am not happy with the service and would not recommend this for ANY bride. The business does have everything in order and the previous events look amazing, don't get me wrong. I just don't think anyone should have to feel that way, especially a bride about her big day.
I was later warned that NO planner should ever asked for an exact price for their services, it should be a percent of the budget. Considering the fact that they are getting paid the same for a $10,000 and $30,000 wedding!!…
Worth a laugh, so book a consult for entertainment purposes only!. First of all a wedding is about publicly and legally declaring your intentions to love and respect your partner forever, it's not about showing off to your guests how fabulous you are and how much money you have. It's also Portland Oregon, not the coronation of Queen Elizabeth in London England, which is what this guy thinks he is an event planner for. With that said I will highlight my experience with this vendor in one word: TACKY! He ran through pictures of each of the weddings he had done in his show room and told me how much the total bill was of each event trying to get a "feeling" of what kind of wedding I wanted. I had the budget to book this guy and because he was so inappropriate in our first meeting, I took my business to Bridal Bliss, they are so much more professional, gracious, and classy. Do not be fooled by this guy's website, it is impressive...he is not! Good luck surviving the economic downturn with what you are charging people who can get way better service elsewhere. PS...His chair rentals (among other things) are $2.00 more per chair. Shop around, this guy is a serious joke! Everything he has is overpriced...I had the most beautiful wedding ever, and was able to spend the $ we had put away for a planner, on an amazing planner, AND a honeymoon at The Four Seasons Maui.…
