Reservations mean nothing
by kmarbaugh
I've eaten here before with one or two other people and they tend to be very busy at lunch time. So I made reservations today for 6 people at noon (they only take reservations for parties of 6+). My group showed up at 12:03 and they had given away our table. Two other groups of 6 had shown up right before us and they just assumed one of the groups was mine or didn't even bother to look that at their reservation list. They offered to sit us outside where it was less than 60 degrees or wait 30 + minutes for a table inside, where there is NO waiting room unless you want to sit on the lap of someone already eating. They sent us on our way with a very insincere apology for THEIR screw-up. So we had to find somewhere else downtown at noon that could take a party of six right away - without reservations. Rock Bottom turned out to be a much better choice for a birthday lunch!!!
- Pros: food
- Cons: Lack of communication between employees

Good Thai joint downtown
by Dosifei
Bangkok Palace is a good lunch location during the week--I can't speak for dinner, as I've only been there for lunch. The food is very good--especially the pad thai. The portions for the lunch meals are quite generous, as I've usually had to get a box. The location and decor are positives, but the crowd at lunch can be quite thick, so recommend getting there early. Service is generally speedy, although carry-out seems to take a while. The staff, while not overly friendly, is competent and prompt. Avoid sitting near the door during the cold season, as there's no protection from the draft when it opens.
- Pros: Good food, quick service, great location
- Cons: Too crowded at lunch, chilly drafts in winter, slow carry-out service
