Great Service and Product. My mom and I have been going to Melanie since before I was in high school, just about 10 years ago.

We love her services and products. Starting from Brazilian and eyebrow waxes to specific facials for both of our skin types.

Once I started going and using the product my skin has never been better. In high school I would break out and get black heads but the eminence product has cleared my skin and it's all I ever use.

Not only is the service and product great but the atmosphere is cozy and comfortable and it's nice being the only one there so you never feel rushed.

I highly recommend to anyone and have coerced my friends and other family to see Melanie.

In Re: Skin Care Disaster- Miramare Spa is FABULOUS!~. This is absolutely shocking to me to see a review like this for Miramare Spa. This definitely sounds like an individual case, since my experience has been the exact opposite. I have also been battling acne, for over 14 years and for the first time in my life I finally have it under control without having to take a prescription. With the help of Miramare Spa and some healthy life changes my acne is finally subsiding for good! I can only hope that people give Miramare Spa a chance so they can find success like I have, and make their own decision about it. All referrals that I have sent their way have loved the results they have received, and I have confidence that you will as well!

By Far My Favorite Spa!. I first visited Miramare after reading a review a couple of years ago on the Portland Picks website. Since going there every opportunity I have I visit this great little spa in the heart of Northwest Portland. I live in a world class ski resort and need extra special treatment for facial sun damage. I actually do have an opportunity to take advantage of some large and pretentious spas here in my hometown, but it was a visit to Portland and Miramare two months ago, that spa owner, Melanie, discovered a spot on my skin that she felt looked very suspicious to her experienced eye and suggested I go ASAP to have it checked by a skin doctor. I took her advice. I'm glad I did. This spot was (the dreaded) melanoma. I had this removed shortly afterwards and was advised by the Pathologist that the plastic surgeon had "got it all". He also told me that I should thank profusely the aesthetician who had recommended I get it checked. It was a small spot, but a dangerous one. Thank you Melanie, not only for this advice but also for your very special attention to detail. I should take advantage here, though, to also say that Melanie's exceptional one and a half hour facials that I experience each time I am able to fly out to Portland are simply wonderful. The very best. And I have been fortunate enough to visit many spas. My only wish is that I lived closer to Portland because, without doubt, I would have the enjoyment of Melanie's touch each and every week.!

Regarding Skin Care disaster reveiw:. The treatment of problem skin presents many unique and individual challenges. In 13 years of business, I have passionately treated acne clients both with individualized facials and home skin care recommendations.

In the course of treatment it is essential that along with regular visits, the client takes a personal responsibility for positive lifestyle changes that will benefit and contribute to healthier skin. This includes giving up destructive habits that further damage the skin such as smoking, chronic picking and unhealthy diet / lifestyle choices.

Severe acne requires a multi-stage approach that is best introduced early to clients. Occasionally, when red inflamed skin is cleared up, older and deeper acne related scarring may be revealed. I can say that each client receives my full attention and effort regarding concerns with their individual skin health and beauty.

My best wishes go to any client who may decide to carry on their skincare elsewhere knowing that I have provided a comprehensive, realistic and proven approach to obtaining their skincare goals.

Skin Care Disaster. I went to Miramar after battling adult acne. Extractions were performed on my skin over the course of several months.

Unfortunately, the way that the extractions were performed left my skin with (fortunately) shallow scarring which will hopefully be able to be remedied with laser treatment.

When I asked the esthetician about the scarring, she got very defensive and refused to admit she had any negative impact on my skin, which left me feeling helpless and hopeless.

Unfortunately I do not reccomend this place. I know others have had different experiences, but if you have acne problems you may want to consider alternative treatments.

One Woman Wonder. There is a reason Melanie works solo!! Her clients would only want to book an appt with her! I have been going to Melanie for over 8 years and her facials just get better and better.

Melanie is the BEST!!. Her Spa is beautiful and so well thought out! She makes you feel comfortable in every way. And my face LOVES her!! I feel like a new person when I walk out of there and she has made such a huge difference with my acne. She is such a warm easy to talk to person. She make each experience super special and relaxing. I would recommend her to anyone!! Go see for yourself.

Heaven on NW Thurman. I have been going to Miramare European Skincare for 3 years after I read an extremely favorable review about it from Portland Picks. This is a wonderful, one-of-a-kind place. The minute you walk in you feel calm, relaxed and renewed. And this is even before your treatment starts! Getting a facial from Melanie is like heaven on earth, or, at least heaven on NW Thurman. This is a one woman run shop, so you are the only one there during your apppintment, you are the most important person at that time and all attention is on you. As a Mom of a 9 and 7 year old, that's worth the price of admission right there.......I'm the most important person for that hour.......I love that! Check it out, you will not be dissappointed!

A luxury I will skip lattes to afford!. I am over 40 years old and receive comments on how vibrant my skin looks all the time. Yesterday a friend asked if I get microdermabrasion. I credit my healthy skin with Melanie's wonderful, long individually suited facials. I have had facials many places but never felt that they were worth the money or tailored to my skin needs. I so look forward to my almost monthly Friday mornings because Melanie is a truly calming person who uses the most wonderful products. I have been buying cream and cleanser from her as well and love the fact that her products don't rely on weird chemicals. You won't be regret making an appointment and probably will become a Miramare convert.
