Shhhhh...don't tell anyone!. I heard about Gossamer through a friend and decided to go. I had never really found a stylist who could do my hair the way I pictured it should be. Turns out I had never been to someone who has as high level of knowledge about hair, how it falls, how it grows, and how to cut it so it falls just the right way, as Kim the owner. I almost don't want to post this review because it is hard enough already to get an appointment (6 week wait) but this is an amazing salon in Portland and I have been to a lot. Sandra At Gossamer Rocks !. There are two people working at Gossamer: Sandra and Kim. Both of them made me feel comfortable with being there right away. I hadn't had my hair cut in a long time but I felt it was time for a change so I went with what Sandra suggested and it looks fantastic. I have been there for a follow up visit last week and it felt just as good as the first visit. On my way home I felt inspired to write a review here and spread the word.…

Gossamer Salon. Sandra at Gossamer is the only person I let touch my head now. I have no need for another stylist..she does my cut and color. I have compliments on both all the time by random people...which is how i know it looks good. I had my hair cut on vacation at Vidal Sassoon by the head educator in Miami. My hair looked horrible...and so did the hair of a girl i met there...turns out we had the same hair dresser. The color was severe on me and totally clashed with the style of the cut. I honestly can't believe someone thought it looked good, because when i went to work they looked at me with pity. It was THEE most unflattering look since my famous god awful Jr. high cut in which i cried in the chair. This is what Sandra Fixed. I went from hating it to loving it. I admired my cut from front to back and side to side. She uses the best color...rich , shiny, that lasts..if it weren't for my roots, I wouldn't even need a touch up. Fantastic service. Funny conversation. Relaxed breathing in the chair. Now what am I going to do for the rest of my life without her? I have seriously had this thought.

Simply Portland's BEST SALON. I moved to Portland from NYC last year, and after 2 terrible cut/color experiences here I was ready to time my trims to my trips back to NYC... and I'm not at all a 'high maintenance', 'manicured-nails' type. It's just that I have unruly hair, and Portland weather makes for many bad-hair days! Luckily Gossamer was my 3rd and final salon attempt.

Well, for the first time, my hair looks (and feels) better than it ever did, and that includes haircuts done by some supposedly 'top stylists' at supposed 'best salons' in NYC... and it's been a couple weeks after Kim and Sandra cut & highlighted my locks at Gossamer. The day I had my hair done there, it looked so great that my husband wanted to go out (anywhere) just to be seen with me! (before Gossamer, I'd have to wash out the way salons styled my hair because it often looked ridiculous)

If Gossamer were in Manhattan, it would be a top-rated salon, frequented by every sort, from hipsters to 'ladies who lunch', because Sandra and Kim are such versatile, skilled, adept colorists, cutters/stylists- despite this, their prices are still reasonable. Just be warned, since anyone who knows about Gossamer keeps going back, you'll need patience before they can fit you in. But it is so worth the wait- I just hope this review doesn't result in yet longer waits for my next appointment (book yours when you're done with the first, since it takes ~ 2 months)!
