Not real happy with Fretworks. This was probably 7 years ago. 1979 Stratocaster fret replacement, on a maple neck. The price was better than 12th fret. But after about 2 weeks I noticed lacquer damage, 4th fret, middle of the fret (tear-drop shaped laquer melted or scraped). Todd had not told me about it, but tried to clean it up and put some kind of liquid polish on the wood stain to make it look varnished. Of course, it didn't take long to wear off and get dirty.

Funny - after the refret, I took my Dillion PRS knockoff in to have him try to solve a vibrato problem - G, B strings not returning to tune. He turned me down, and said he wouldn't touch it - his words. Don't know if it was the quality of the guitar, or a guilty conscience. This was before I had noticed the neck damage on the strat.

Not real happy with Todd. Didn't confront him - not my style. Haven't been back since.  View Less

Fretworks is the best in my book!. These guys are tops. I took my electric in because of fret buzz. Given that it was a 1-hr round trip to get there and back home, they fixed it while I had a coffee at the great coffee shop a block and a half away. A half hour later, it was fixed and I was on my way back home. They are going to do any other guitar repairs I need in the future. Friendly, professional, and quick.  View Less View More

Great Repair Shop. Portland Fretworks has always been a good bet for guitar repair. It's a small shop with quality workers and reasonable prices. I've tried other local shops and never been as happy.  View Less View More
