Cocktail maven and author of "Hip Sips" Lucy Brennan opened this cavernous, brick-walled lounge to serve as a holding pen for the neighboring hotspot, Mint. The dimly lit space fills nightly with chic twenty- and thirtysomethings who toast their good fortune with cocktails from the impressively long list. A sunken back room provides seating beyond bar stools and stiff banquettes; the room also creates a more comfortable space to sip standouts like the beet-infused Ruby and the Avocado Daiquiri that put Mint on Portland's mixology scene map.

This bar sits adjacent to it's restaurant called Mint. It is dark and pretentious with expensive cocktails. There is a small outdoor patio but it is often crowded and just an odd space. Better bars in Portland for sure.

2 of my girlfriends and I went to 820 last week (on a Thursday night around 5:30) after one of them recommended it. They had luckily found a spot for us to sit because it was packed. I had looked on their website before arriving so I already knew what to order. I ordered the "Freestyle" and it did not disappoint. We all sipped each other's drinks and my friends liked it so much they ordered one too. The funny thing was it is not on their drink menu in-house! They still made it (and our server said it was her favorite) so I was happy and it made it feel all that more special. I also got the Guava Cosmo and finished off with the Sweet Love. I liked them best in the order they arrived. We also got a few bites - the appetizer platter (yum), the lamb burger (you gotta like it spicy) & sweet potato fries (better than I expected) and my friend liked her hummus a lot. I probably won't order the lamb burger again but I'd get all the other food and certainly more Freestyles. Our server was very attentive as well and there was no loud music and humm of people was not too loud with so many bodies in a small space, so we could hear each other talk which was nice for a change. Overall it was a great experience. We will be back soon.
