Nasty hole-in-the-wall, worth walking by sort of place that is a really fun place to throw down on the pool table, chat with the bartenders and generally hide from the world. That gets a high rating in my book.

best place to start and end your night outs!. The Silver Dollar is a great bar to start out your evening escapade of binge drinking or a good place to sit and enjoy a drink and eat while watching a game on one of their many tvs.

It also can become a must for that late night food craving after an evening of %&$#! or near by bar hopping, as it is one of only a few limited places to get any food for a reasonable amount of money late into the night.

The worst service in Portland. I've drank all over this town, including Dante's... I didn't think service could get any worse. Then I experienced the staff at Silver Dollar. Literally the worst service I've experienced in any bar, anywhere in the U.S. If you don't mind a low rent hole where you wait 1/2 an hour for the chance at getting a drink, this is your place. If you want to have a cocktail and enjoy yourself, look elsewhere.

Atmosphere? Smoke, homeless, and that lovely "hasn't been washed in decades" feel.

There are tons of great bars in Portland, including many within minutes of this mistake. Explore them, just don't err where I did.

A central downtown location makes this sports bar a good bet.. In Short
A stone's throw from any number of downtown nightspots, from posh to seedy, this bar walks the middle line. The smallish, narrow space is brightly lit and decor is spartan. Thirteen TV screens cater to sports fans, while pool tables in the back host weekly tournaments. Draft beer and microbrews are complemented by a full bar.

New & Improved.... New owners have cleaned this downtown dive up. They now actually have the food that's on their new menu now (and more than one menu from which to order), and are open late.

Serving until closing, they're a great late night stop after a show or movie for a late night snack. Pool tables, darts, arcade games and full lottery too. Definitely, a step above its former self...

Bartenders. Best dang bartenders this side of the mississippi, no really they are hot and they are chemists with the liquors.
