Editorial Review for Carlyle – by Annamaria Pardini and Ivy Manning
In Short
The long, narrow dining room, with dark wood bar, exposed-timber ceiling and black wood chairs, is a study in masculine elegance. Jazz, Motown and opera mix with the quiet conversation of refined couples and foursomes seated at tables or along the gold cushioned banquette. The menu says fresh, local ingredients with an Italian accent. Succulent grilled sea bass is served on a bed of creamy risotto with smoky tomato vinaigrette.

Insider Tips
Save MoneyOn Monday evenings, buy a bar appetizer and get a martini for $1. During happy hour Tue-Wed, 3pm-6pm and 9pm-close, get half off most bar menu items.
What to DrinkThe cocktails are works of art. Absolut vodka-based Gypsy Rose Lee is a deep red and tastes of raspberries, rose and citrus. The refreshing mojito uses tangy orange rum and fresh lime and it's served in a tall glass swirling with mint leaves.

The food was delicious! The server was a bit snooty. He corrected my date's pronunciation of a menu item. Wow, thanks! We were celebrating an anniversary and wanted to try somewhere nice. We didn't realize we were paying extra for attitude. I was very upset.
Pros: food
Cons: service

Although out of the way, a very romantic place for dinner, or a great place for a group of friends in one of the private dining areas. I have been here many times, and the food is always excellent. Northwest flair on a variety of dishes. The steak is always a great bet, and scallops, when on the menu, are a can't miss. The wine list is fairly extensive, and very good. Neal, the bartender, is the best in town. Tell him what your favorite spirit is, and have him make something on the spot for you - you will not be dissapointed.
Pros: Great Bartender, Romantic Atmoshpere, excellent food, easy parking
