great trip down nostalgia lane. Driven by Boppin Bo's many times and finally went in. Charmed by the memorabilia and the '50's feel. Service was fine. What's not to like? We ordered a regular hamburger and a 2 beef patty bo-dacius burger. Good buns. The burgers were way overcooked and there was no beef taste. I stopped eating because I got tired of chewing. Also, no self-respecting '50's hamburger has shredded lettuce! Best hamburger we've ever eaten is Pie 'n Burger in Pasadena. Anytime we're within 2 hours of Pasadena, we make the trip.
best service anywhere. They are great there, 50's look, personal friendly service, lots of retro gifts to buy while waiting to be seated or to look at on the way out. They helped me put together a gift basket for two different birthday parties. They were patient and even checked on delivery times of new items so I could come back and complete the gift sets. They played with my four year old so I could shop uninterupted and for that alone they deserve medals and pensions! The food is out of the midwest 1950's drive in genre. Good, sinful and worth every calorie that slides onto your hips. Highly recommend.
Best Ice Cream and Burgers anywhere!!!. I have never had a shake or malt that tasted soooo good. They make them the old fashioned way with real hard ice cream and serve them in a tin which fills your tall shake glass up twice! The waitresses dress in fifties attire and they are the friendliest in town! It is our favorite burger hangout! I have never been dissappointed in anything I have ever ordered. They also serve a country style breakfast. We often get their breakfast special which is 2 eggs, hashbrowns and toast for only $2.99.. What a deal and a full breakfast!! All the menu items have names from the fifties, the juke box always plays and their is a train that travels from room to room. Their new party rooms also has dancing. Great for the kids, who get their meals served in a fifties car that they can take home. The owners are always there and glad to have you share in their 30 year dream. They even serve elephant ears!!! If you want great food, fun atmosphere, wonderful service and a blast from the past, I would highly recommend Boppin' Bo's!
OK -- if you like you ice cream melted. I have been to Boppin' Bo's a couple of times. Everytime I have had terrible service and very poor quality of food. The wait staff is usually too wrapped up in personal conversations to be bothered with customers. Even when we stopped by for just french fries and ice cream they dished up the ice cream and let it sit on the counter melting for 10 minutes before they brought it to us. Most recently when paying the check I told them it was the most horrible experience I had ever had there, the cashier just looked at me blankly as she rang up my check and never uttered a word. I felt as if I was interupting them.
Great Burgers!!.
Boppin Bo's starts with great burgers. Service is very fast and friendly. The decor is set up to look like an old soda fountain with pictures of Elvis, James Dean and old cars. Also, in the cash register area is a large assortment of old candies; very nice touch!
With all the ho hum burger chain food out there, it is great to see these owner's dream coming true! (Check the back of the menu for their story.)
