Editorial Review for Bartini – by Nancy Levenson
The Scene
The dim yellow light fixtures hanging down in the black-as-night interior provide just enough light for perusing the extensive drink list. The high-ceilinged space, formerly an Italian restaurant, is tiny--about the size of a studio apartment. Perch yourself at a window table for prime people-watching or snuggle on the couch toward the back.
The Draw
Tradition has been tossed aside in favor of creating cocktails that are anything but run-of-the-mill. Start off with something from the garden menu, such as a subtly scrumptious lemon-basil martini or the bubbly Sweet Nasturtium martini with champagne. Next, sip on a fresh and fruity white-peach martini or the decadent "Snicker-tini," a liquid version of the snack that really satisfies. The mixologists behind the bar are constantly inventing the next big drink, so be sure to ask for a taste of their latest concoction.

Looking for a good martini? Don't even bother with this place. I tried 3 different martinis and all were horrible and watered down. If you want a good martini go to The Vault!! Best martini bar hands down!! Bartini is way too small to be taking table reservations for happy hour! There are probably only 6-8 tables and most of them were "reserved". Also the service was slow and rude. I went in with a large group of girls and our server had absolutely no patience. The only thing they have going for them is the fact that they are attached to Urban Fondue so the food and fondue were excellent.
Pros: Fondue
Cons: horrible martinis, no seating, poor service and parking is challenging.

Owners-- you need to read this. I visited BARTINI for the first time/last time today. Was coming out of Trader Joe's, saw people seemingly enjoying their drinks, so I stopped in to check it out. A very dark, empty room, except for the bartender-- who immediately acted arrogant as hell for some reason. I ordered a drink, and he just stood there and looked at me-- like there was No Way he's serving me. Sensing hostility, I didn't bother to sit. ( WTF??) He echoed my order back, questioningly, semi-mockingly, looking me up and down. A bit taken aback, I explained the drink recipie to him, thinking "he's asking me what the drink is" (it's a common drink). He replies, "I KNOW WHAT IT IS." DId he: a) Not like my clothes b) demeanor, c) that I was alone? Do I really care. No. There are at least a dozen FRIENDLIER bars on 21st/ 23rd. streets. My friends, family, everyone I know... will be avoiding the 'plague of attitude' at BARTINI. Bank on it. PS Our bartender friend is obviously a STAR-- at least HE thinks so. Tending bar is obviously beneath him.
