The Scene
Sharing space with the fanciful toy store Spoink, Scooters offers something to please the kid in everyone. Enjoy a scoop of ice cream while playing the Asteroids video game, or watch the tiny TV playing vintage toy commercials. The hip and friendly staff are experts in combining ice cream flavors with their wide array of add-ins. The chocolate-candied-ginger blizzard is a must-try.

The Food
Scooters set itself apart from chain parlors by serving locally made ice cream from Cascade Glacier, organic flavors from Noris Dairy (the folks famous for the refillable glass bottles) and non-dairy soft-serve treats. A wide choice of toppings ranging from dried tomatoes to gummy worms is available to spice up the already interesting flavors like caramel blackberry, green tea and licorice. Low-fat and sugar-free scoops like caramel-praline allow indulgence without the guilt.

This is definately not a 32 flavors type place with a ton of flavors, but they still have a really good selection of high quality, great tasting desserts. They usually have only a few vegan soy soft-serve flavors to choose from, but they rotate what flavors they carry. You can also get milk (& soy) shakes, sundaes, and cookies. Scooters is very vegan friendly-- they label their toppings and will glady answer your questions. The prices are not cheap, but moderately priced (example $4 for a milk shake) and the portions are pretty large. Also a great thing about Scooters is the atmosphere, very laid back, kid-friendly. There is interesting local art and you can hang out inside and listen to music. You can also chill outside on Belmont. The neighborhood is a really great scene with many other shops, bars, and places to eat.

Even soft serve, vegan, and soft serve vegan! Last year I had the most incredible strawberry cheesecake - it tasted like it had actually been made with strawberry cheesecake, which I don't doubt - and that was only the beginning of the deliciousness. Just down the block from Laughing Planet, it's the perfect end to a tasty burrito meal.

The day I went there they only had 1 Varity of soy ice cream it was soft serve chocolate. I saw the add in the Willamette weekly and knew I had to make a trip from Vancouver all the way to Belmont to try some soy ice cream. It was my first time there and I was a little disappointed thinking they'd have a case full to choose from. I got the chocolate soy blizzard. They were out of the Newman Oreos so I got the chocolate chips added in. Too many were added in, but the blizzard was yummy. Vegan ice cream sandwiches were also available.
