I enthusiastically endorse this studio!
I have practiced at three Bikram or hot yoga studios in Portland, and this studio is definitely the best. The atmosphere is ideal for first-timers or yogis that have practiced for years. The studio is clean (which is very important to me) and well kept. The instructors are professional, attentive, helpful, and engaging (making the 90 minute session fly by quickly!). The studio offers numerous classes every day, so no matter my obligations, I can find time to attend a morning, afternoon, or evening class.
Bikram practice has changed my physical and spiritual being and I am delighted to find a studio that is a great match for me!…
Hot Yoga in Sellwood.
This studio has been here for years...and I was so unaware what was happening inside until I finally went this spring. I highly recommend to anyone who's even remotely interested in trying it, to go
at least three times in one week, and see how much better you feel physically, mentally and emotionally. Yes, it's challenging at times, but through it, I learned how to be gently and patient and forgiving with myself. And the class is very welcoming and supportive of new people because everyone who is there comes to practice at their individual level...so in that sense, eveyone fits right in. It's the same poses every time, but they just get deeper with more practice.
A few of my friends have started going to since I've started. There are so many class times offered that we don't always get to see each other. But in between classes, it feels good to see how we are all benefiting from working our body and mind in this practice. I feel stronger in many ways.
And, now it's cold and rainy and cloudy here in Portland. And Bikram is hot and cozy, and gets the sun shining from the inside out. Definitely an antidote for the Portland humdrums. I recommend it, for sure.…
Good for mind body and soul. I started taking Bikram Yoga in January after a very rough long term relationship ended. At first I wasnt sure whether or not I'd like it. The studio is kept at 105, I wasnt sure if I'd make it through an entire class or run out the door after 5 minutes. I made it and now that I've attended several classes I really like it. The instructors are all very nice people, the studio itself has good welcoming energy. It's challenging. Most importantly, the emphasis is on intent and making an effort in doing the postures. Cant touch your head to the floor today? Well, maybe next class. Since I've been going, I feel less anxious, less stressed, more calm, and sleep better. Hot yoga isnt for everyone but if you're at all curious, I'd encourage you to try it out.…
Bikram's Benefits!. Bikram's Yoga College Of India is the spot to go if your looking into trying Bikram's. It's my favorite discovery for working the body and getting the most you can in an hour and a half. Not only to you strengthen your most inner core but you gain flexability at the same time. Learning to use your own body the way you do in this class without equipment is a rewarding feeling. I have Previous Dance injuries and was in and out of physical therapy for a while. This gave me the results I was seeking because it works the deep muscles you focus on in physical therapy causing everything to feel much better right away. The heat feels so amazing and sweating out the bad toxins is such a replenishing and healing feeling. This studio is a warm and welcoming place to come to. Everyone is supportive of each other bettering themselves with the practice of yoga. There are all different levels from beginner to advanced and the teachers are awesome with hands on methods, especially for the new comers. If your looking to find your full potential mentally and physically get in and try it. We have one life and one body to fulfill. It will give you a boost in energy and happiness in your everyday life!…
SE Bikram's!.
I had always been afraid to try yoga because I was embarrassed of my lack of flexibility; I didn't think I could be successful. I heard of Bikram's from my little sister who convinced me that the
heated room made all the difference. I started with the intro package at the South East studio. My first class was with Douglas, the studio owner. He gave me guidance and encouragement before, during, and after class. It was an amazing 90 minutes. I felt more limber than I had in YEARS, just after one session. I continued to attend class and within a week I could bend over and touch my toes outside of the studio! Now, I wake up easier, feel better, and I've lost weight.
I really enjoy going to the Sellwood studio. The environment is calm and inviting, clean and open. The instructors are soothing yet challenging, and the other people who practice there are friendly and helpful to newbies like me!
I am not dreading the looming winter weather this year. Bikram's is a great way to stay fit and warm during the wet months.
If you're looking for a life change, I encourage you to give the SE studio a try!…
