Absolutely horrible I'm a long time member and have been with unitus for 5+ years, and now I'm leaving. Here are my reasons why. The overall quality of this once decent credit union, has been going down. The customer service is horrible, they don't treat you with respect, and you are more of a hassle to them. They have gotten greedy in the past few years. Fee's are constantly being raised, on everything, the terms on credit lines are getting worse. They don't give a 30 day grace period for credit charges, you only get 25. Even if you pay your balance down to zero before the grace period expires, they charge you interest on all of the charges anyway. Online records don't even show this activity, only the paper statement is accurate. This is a nightmare for people like me who enjoy the convenience of online only banking. Basically, I can't rely on anything that the online banking records state. I have to look at the paper statement to be sure that I don't owe any additional interest charges, even though the online balance shows $0.00 They have constantly declined me for a home mortgage improvement loan, and I've had no problems getting an approval from another CU. My credit is fine, my payments are on time. There's no reason to deny the application, yet they denied it 3 times. I don't want to have to work with two separate organizations, I like the convenience of having all accounts with one Credit Union. They have made this impossible. The other problem is that their online security is still catching up with what other similar credit unions have already figured out. Recently they have made efforts to increase security, but in my opinion, it's not happening fast enough. They take a reactive approach to security, not a preventative approach. There's a good chance members could be the victim of a scam, due to lax online security. Conclusion: I won't ever bank with Unitus again. I highly recommend choosing someone else for your banking needs.
Pros: Day care, a decent number of branches, participate in co-op network, free capichino, no ATM fee for members. Cute tellers
Cons: Long wait times, bad customer service, weak online security, high fees, poor credit terms, inconvinient branch hours.
