Don't trust the closing time!
by femknit
This location just changed their closing hours from 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This evening I went over at 4:50 to pick up dinner for a late night at work. The door was locked and the clerk had already cleaned up. She made eye contact and shrugged a "whatever." This is no way to run a business. The food is good, but the service just isn't worth it. The new earlier hours already made it difficult to patronize them for a late evening at the office. I am very disappointed.
- Pros: Good food
- Cons: Expensive for lunch, limited menu
No vegies for you!
by stillnewtopdx
My friend and I decided to try this place. We went online to their website and liked the menu. Atmosphere was what I expected, only smaller - felt like they stole the design from Starbuck's. Tall chairs were super uncomfortable, but I like that they have outdoor seating. We decided to try one of each dumpling - the spinich and the mushroom dumblings are the best. Their chicken salad rolls are also very good. I like that they have a sauce bar, but was expecting more sauces to choose from. The first guy who took our order was super friendly and had suggestions for how to order. We asked for a small side of steamed vegies - when he went to ask the manager if we could order that, he came back and said that managment had said "no" because there was no button on the cash register to ring this up. Ha! Is this really a reason not to let me order vegies? Are we in McDonalds? Kind of silly if you ask me. I asked again when we got to the unfriendly manager taking people's money if we could get a side of vegies and he said rigidly (without smiling or a hello) "No. Only for people who order a rice bowl". I felt like I was on Seinfeld trying to order soup - "No soup for you!" So they had vegies, they just weren't going to give them to me. I get much better service in the food court at Pioneer Place. For a newish restaurant that only has a couple of locations, you'd think they'd be a litlte more customer-friendly than this. Ridiculous!!! I also noticed they only had forks or chop sticks - no other utencils. So overall good food, but don't you dare ask for any favors from the guy in charge.
- Pros: Food, location, outdoor seating
- Cons: Manager's unfriendly attitude
Dumplings no longer just an appetizer!!!

This place has the best dumplings and dipping sauces around. My personal favorite dumpling/sauce combo would have to be tomato sambal beef dumplings with the chili garlic suace. The crisp lettuce cups are excellent and I highly recommend them. I have no doubt that the rest of the menu is just as tasty, but I guess I have to wait until my next trip to Portland to find out. Unless they have plans of expanding to Southern California soon.
- Pros: Inexpensive, Service, Food
- Cons: , Closed Sundays
