A great lounge, especially if you're seeing a show downstairs. Also, one of the go-to places for out of town visitors. Breakfast and happy hour are great, while service can be hit and miss. I love the fries.

WORST BREAKFEST EVER????. It real has by far the worst breakfast for a place of this reputation. The dinner/appetizers are great, just NEVER NEVER NEVER go for breakfast.

The breakfast is bad... and not hip hop bad where it means good, but regular old bad that still means not good.

Nice look, rude service, bad alcohol selection. Hip Setting, but poor drink offerenings .Some friends, my husband and I went in on New Year's Eve. We were all outside, so my friend went into the bar to get us drinks. Both my husband and I ordered a SoCo and Lime, which the bartender told her they don't have. Seriously? What kind of bar doesn't stock Southern Comfort? She came back and asked us for new orders since they didn't have what we wanted, and my husband ordered a wheat beer. When she returned to the bar, the bartender asked her rudely "Haven't I already seen you?" Yeah, that's what service is about, buddy. You wouldn't want someone buying more drinks or anything! The horror! Anyway, she proceded to order, whereupon he told her they don't have any wheat beer. Everyone might not love all types of beer, but come on, this is Oregon. Wheat beer is pretty much an obligatory offering. This bar needs to work on service and selection.

HORRIBLE - WORST experience EVER!!!. I went in and it seemed nice enough... got the happy hour wine for $3 and some appetizers for $3 as well. Went out walked around and came back to have a beer. Then went to buy my ticket for the show... the Legendary Pink Dots were playing and I even saw them eating there but when they check my ID to get in they tell me that I can't see the show cuz they'll lose their liquor license if I watch a band playing downstairs. Nevermind that they JUST served me 2 different alcoholic beverages... so I tell them I just moved here and haven't gotten a new ID yet and that even though the one I have is expired it still reflects my age. They don't care, they just tell me too bad and to come back next time. I didn't come to their stupid bar to drink but I did; I came there to see a concert so the fact that they will let me in later when I get a new ID doesn't really matter to me. This is the last show on the LPD tour too... so who knows when they'll be back and who knows if I'll ever get to see them again. They were mean and unyielding even though it wouldn't have hurt them any to let me in to see the show. I was clearly old enough to serve alcohol to. I plan on taking it up with the Oregon Liquor Control Commission.

Super cool but weird experience. This bar is totally awesome inside! The decor is like a hunting lodge from the Jetsons! I went to see a show there last night and had a pretty good time but I do have a few gripes. The sound system was excellent and the drinks were strong, however the bartender was a total sourpuss who showed an apparent dislike of his job and his customers. I also broke out in an itchy rash from the ink which they insisted on stamping on both of my wrists!

Spend Your Money Somewhere Else. I would also like to preface this review with a sigh...this bar used to be one of my favorites as well. You used to get great service, great food, and friendly faces. ALL of which has been lost.

In January I had a group of people come there for my 30th birthday. It started out with no service, then when we finally did get service the server seemed not only put out but irritated that we all wanted to order after waiting for almost an hour for her to even come over.

The bartenders did not help us at all. We were told several times to find a server. I brought in over 30 people to frequent their establishment and this is the service we receive.

To top it off, I went to the Jupiter Hotel that night to see if I could get a room. I was told to come back after midnight to get a better deal. After midnight I went in reserved my room and when I went to go back in I was told I was not allowed back in. There was no reason why. I was not intoxicated. I am not one to give attitude. So low an behold I had to go to my room and my 30th birthday party went on without me...the birthday boy.

I WILL NEVER GO THERE EVER AGAIN...and I urge you to do the same.

AWFUL! Doug Fir, I once loved you so..... So I want to preface this negative review by saying that once upon a time, the Doug Fir was one of my favorite happy hour joints in the whole city.

But....

The last time we went, we couldn't get any sort of service. It was happy hour, so we seated ourselves. After ten minutes, it became apparent that no one was coming to our table, so we went to the bar to order drinks. The bartender asked for our ids (rudely), and once he had checked them, he went back to whatever project he was working on when we approached. We asked if we should sit and wait for service or order then, but got no reply. So we sat down..... for another fifteen minutes. Finally, someone went to the bar to try and order food, at which point he was rudely told that he was to order from a server (none of which were anywhere to be seen). So, in the interest of not making a scene, we waited a few more minutes, all to no avail.

The best part?

As we were walking out the door, the bartender chuckled at us and said: "Yeah. have a nice day there, guys.".

Totally unnecessary. They are rude beyond belief, and all without any sort of provocation. I get the impression that we just weren't the target demographic, and that the best way (or the only way) to get service there anymore is to know the staff.

Avoid this venue! The worst experiences in my life!. I agree 100% with the last three reviews of the Doug Fir. The service is terrible, it's overpriced, their staff are rude and inconsiderate, and their security is the absolute worst! Me and a group of friends, which included a pregnant women, attended a concert there last month. A large group of very young and very intoxicated people proceeded to squeeze, bump, and crowd in front of us. We politely asked them to give the pregnant woman a little space. A reasonable request as far as I'm concerned. They left but came back shortly after dancing wildly and bumping into everyone around them. Keep in mind, this was not a "mosh" type of concert or crowd. It was totally mellow and these people were just trying to antagonize everyone around them and start trouble. One of the girls in front of me had a glass of something (I assume beer) and kept swinging it around nearly hitting me in the face. I put my hand up to block it and she dropped the glass and it shattered on the floor. She immediately got up in my face and wanted to fight me. She was out of control. I am a mother of two and I have absolutely no interest in having a physical fight with a 21-year-old girl at a concert, or anyone else for that matter! Security told us that we would have to leave if we were going to be "a problem". This infuriated me because we were clearly not "the problem". I explained to them what happened: I didn't really feel like picking glass out of my face, thank you very much! Eventually, this group of people, who were becoming increasingly more obnoxious and disruptive, were kicked out. My husband and I went outside to get some fresh air and two of the girls from the group, who security was still trying to chase off, came over and assaulted me my husband, hitting both of us in the face. My husband grabbed one of them by the arm to keep her from swinging and one of the bouncers ran over accusing him of "hitting a girl". They told us all to leave or they were going to call the cops. I was hurt, humiliated and offended! We were clearly attacked, not the attackers. The fact that we were kicked off the premises and they threatened to call the cops was completely out of line and uncalled for. Security would not allow us to go back inside to get our friends, who drove us there, so we ended up having to take a cab home. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had and I will NEVER go back to the Doug Fir EVER!

Be ready to be judged and or ignored. I mistakenly went on a double date last night to DF. We sat and waited for 20 minutes on a slow night to boot. No greetings or acknowledgment from one of the 4 servers at all. I finally went to the bar to order a drink and was told to wait. My wait was actually due to the personal conversation (didn''t seem to care that I can hear) he was having with the other person behind the bar. We finally left and I was walking out I heard the 2 guys behind the bar laughing. Never again.
