I work a couple blocks away I went here
for the first time last night. Everyone was so great: the bartender, the owner, even the other patrons. An extensive GF menu and the coconut porter was like drinking a candy bar. I'll def go back.
There are a couple disparaging reviews on here; I'm certain that if someone was unhappy with the food or service and had spoken up to the owner their problems would have been rectified.
I went to NW Public House last night because of a Living Social deal and really enjoyed it there. Despite it being a busy night (it was the last night to use the deal), we were seated very quickly and received our food a lot faster than I expected. Everyone who worked there was very friendly and attentive, and everything on the menu looked delicious. I appreciated the unique variety of food listed on the menu, as well as the GF options. I ordered the Churrasco, Prosciutto wrapped scallop & the dirty little mac; my boyfriend got the demolition derby burger, and we shared a bottle of wine. Our food was tasty and the small plates are great if you want to share! We sat upstairs and though it was pretty crowded, the place had a cozy feel to it, Plus there are TVs if you want to catch a football or bball game. Will definitely go back!
Inconsistent service; forgettable
Went to NW Public House last night with a group of friends. I was excited to try some of the interesting offerings on the menu. Unfortunately, the food was forgettable...not great, not bad, just, well, blah.
Initially, the service was attentive and cheery, however, once the food was served, our server ignored our table for at least 30 minutes. Our server was visible and could not have forgotten about us (we were seated in the center of the room as a group of 7), so I don't know what the deal was. From what I could tell they were not short-staffed (our server had time to pick up a broom and do some sweeping). At one point, another server came by to clear some dishes and one of us asked her for another drink. She looked around the restaurant and then responded saying, "I am not your server, er, but I guess I could get it." Whatever, we just wanted some service after over 30 minutes of being ignored. From that time to the time we received our check, we did not see our server. In fact, we had to flag down a 3rd server to obtain our check. He looked at us like we were out of line for asking him for the check (not sure what else we could do given the fact that our server was M.I.A.). Oddly, when our server brought the check she was still cheery and enjoyable. Confusing to say the least. Not sure why she was so attentive at the beginning and so inescusably absent once we received our food, but it was completely irritating to be sitting there and to see her by the bar sweeping when we couldn't get service! I cannot recommend this place based on this experience. If asked, I would recommend you go to some other pub/eatery. Stay away from the NW Public House!
Bad food; bad service..
I'm so upset right now that I don't even know where to start.
My boyfriend and I were searching for a good place to get a gluten-free breakfast and NW Public House popped up. He'd been wanting to try it out for a while, so we headed over there for what we thought would be a nice brunch.
First impressions were good - cute little house, lots of patrons, menu looked good. While I could write a novel on why this was such a bad experience, I'll try and bullet it:
- Cute building, good ambiance
- Friendly waitstaff
- Coffee: they ran out of coffee not once, but twice, while we were there. On a Sunday morning? Seriously? This is really inexcusable in my mind. Granted it was pretty busy when we were there, but make more coffee then.
- Wait time: It took about 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Even at fancy establishments, it does not take this long.
- The food: I ordered the gluten-free pancakes, and they were tasteless. They looked really delicious, but even after smothering them with butter, fruit compote, and syrup, they still tasted like cardboard. There were three pancakes on the plate; I didn't even eat a whole one. I HATE sending food back, so I assumed that when the waitress came to clean off the table and I refused a to-go box, she'd ask if something was wrong. No such luck.
- The front door: something needs to be done with this. Three times we had to get up to shut it because people leaving the restaurant would not shut it themselves. It was chilly outside and really unpleasant to eat with the door open. My boyfriend, myself, and another restaurant patron all got up on separate occasions to shut the door during our meals. Please, just install a spring or something on the door so it shuts itself.
As I write this, I realize I probably should have just said something when I was there. But I really didn't feel like the waitresses had the time or interest in hearing what I had to say.
I certainly will not be back, nor will I endorse this restaurant to others. The only thing that would possibly get me back would be to watch football in the upstairs seating area, as long as I'm not ordering the gluten-free pancakes.
I can't believe I spent $25 on a meal that I hardly touched, coffee that was not refilled, and sub-par service.
This really could have been avoided if the waitress would have just asked me why I didn't touch my plate and offer to rectify the situation. Working in Customer Service myself, this was a huge failure on their part.
Really, really disappointed.
Awesome Food and Great Service!. Stopped into the New Northwest Public House for the Happy Hour and had an amazing burger on Pretzel bread. The beer selection is fantastic and the upstairs sports lounge is amazing. Good outside seating and a friendly staff. Can't wait to go back for brunch and also catch a game in the lounge. The new owners have done a great job!
